There was a young lady from Newton

Who winked at a lad who lost in the  tourney

They drank until 2 when he said I like it down under

The lady was nervous and said she liked it on top

Now what happened til 6 we'll never be certain

But the lad walked all the day to carry the bag of his buddy

Who lost in the finals and knows of the lady from Newton

Goss plays golf at University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He came with high regard and continues to get better.   It will be interesting to see how the golf team does in the fall schedule.

Along with discussion of the non US finalists,    it seems that Fitzpatrick might not fit the mold of the overseas player which is that of a hard nosed golfer who may practice more than he studies.

A Division I player gets quite a lot at many schools.  At  UT,    there have a wonderful mini course with 3 holes, and bent and bermuda practice  greens, and  a wonderful building for training, fitness, film, etc.    It is probably an equal training ground to the mini tours, those circling below web.com.   You have room and board, and the best practice facilities, and good competitions on quality courses.  If it doesn't work out,  you get your business degree and then start selling financial stuff.

Congratulations to Fitzpatrick and Goss.

The contest is still open.   Adam's is terrific although it runs out of syllables, John's fails the limerick test but I like the 'down under' innuendo.

There once was a lady from Newton

Who wrestled a lad on a futon

But then he never met her daddy

Cause he left early to caddie

To help Goss have his day in the sun

Stiles:  2d entry is leader in the clubhouse.

Gimmie a day.

There once was a lass from Newton

Who found a Us Am who was darn tootin'

They stayed out until day

He made his tee time, by the way

But he forgot her name by midday

Holy shit, there may have to be a tie.

I was actually hoping for something a bit raunchier.  I am, after all, the guy who once recited "There once was a man from Nantucket.." in Frank Pennybacker's piano bar in Chicago.  They turned out the lights, lit a candle at the piano, and sang "Silent Night."

This was a very long time ago.   ;D

More entries please.   Midnight CST is 3 hrs 24 min away.

There once was a lady from Newton
Who's date was already done shootin'
He left her at six
To carry a friend's sticks
A four and three loss to a Britain.

Two syllable rhymes with "Newton" is not easy.

Not an easy decision!

John and Michael, please send me your addresses so I can fire off your prizes.  Adam, I'm afraid you'll have to turn up at the Buda Cup and accept a pint or two on me.

Thanks for the strong efforts!

Technically, I was late submitting, so I will concede a loss to John and forego my prize.  Knowing I was a winner is a sufficient prize. ;D  Thanks. Bill.

Thanks for the excellent effort!

I did like John's "down under" double entendre, but ou fashioned the best limerick!
