there is just no comparison between public and the right private club.  It's just a matter of matching your needs and budget with a good place for you.  At the same time, joining the wrong private is a waste of time and money.  As a member of San Jose Country Club for a few years by the end of the second year I couldn't wait to get out even though it was a decent course-the membership specialized in 6somes on weekends and I just hated playing that way.

Dan,
You are right.  Beechtree is a great course but if you think about it, if you play Beechtree once a week, you probably could afford a private membership.
