The British Senior Open at Royal Aberdeen in 2005 had some pretty nasty weather that week , and Tom Watson was definitely in his element .

My memory will be 10am Tuesday morning [in July!!!] , standing on the 1st tee , freezing cold , wind whipping around us , and Tom Watson arrives , looks over at the dozen spectators smiles , and says " What a lovely day for a game of golf " .

On foul language , he played that practise round with Andy North who cursed and cursed all the way round . On the 2nd tee , sensing the spectators were a bit uneasy , he ambles across to us , and says , "Hey Guys , Andy gets a little grumpy in the mornings, he's okay" .

Chuckles all round .

Absolute Class .
