This wonderful, huge tome written by James Finegan, has been, to the best of my knowledge, out of print for a few years. Fortunately, the very interesting GAP-area course histories  are now accessible on-line. If you're interested, just do a search for Centennial Tribute To Golf In Philadelphia.

Its a good, but very uneven, book.  The essays on each member club vary greatly in detail and depth.  Take the passages on Huntingdon Valley -- a lot of detail about the original course along Valley Raod in Abington but virtually nothing about the Flynn course they have occupied for 75 years.  

Have you seen the Met. Golf Ass'n's book on its member clubs?  Much nicer and more even-handed in my opinion.
