Anyone played Trent Jones final course in DR?

Looks like dad, grandpa, my brother-in-law and I will be playing here in February. Along with a week of humpback whale watching (hopefully) and swimming with the wives and kids.

 I can't find a whole lot of info, other than some pics on the web.  The search in this DG has yielded nada.

Anyone have any info they'd like to share here?

Looks nice.

I had heard that RTJ last course was at Anglebrook in New York. I guess they both can be considered last, depends on which one was designed, and then, which one opened last.

According to wikipedia, the source of all nonsense....

"For example, his last design, The Marshes in Ottawa, Canada, is a collaboration with Robert Trent Jones Jr, and was finished after his death in 2000."

As I read further, this claim gets to be somewhat comical:

1. From the Adare Golf Club in Ireland:

"This was the last major golf course designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Senior."


2. From playagrande.com:

"On the western coast, Robert Trent Jones built his final golf course."


3. And the wikipedia entry referenced by Craig previously:

"For example, his last design, The Marshes in Ottawa, Canada."

Whether it was RTJ's last or 3rd from last, it looks quite beautiful there...I'll plan to take my camera in February.  :-X

Eric, as its all marketing!---- it would however be neat to find the correct answer. What was his last hiring as a golf course architect and what was the last designed course to open, we can assume that this would be two different courses.

For a while there, when Mr. Jones was 90 and he was still being sought after for designs even though he could barely get around a piece of property, I wondered if he wasn't so sought after because the clients were hoping to advertise they had his "last" course.

I guess they just made a pact that they can all say it.
