The Elephant's A##hole
« on: October 05, 2007, 10:10:36 PM »
That's the name of a deathly deep pit that turned up quite unexpectedly on a course I played this week.  Isn't it funny the stuff you learn playing with members?

What interesting "unofficial" monikers have you heard applied to certain holes/features?

Crappy picture here, but this Alps hole is known locally as "Dolly Parton."

Gary,

Did you take that photo? Neal Meagher sent me the identical picture (he photographed himself) when he returned last year from the U.K. . . . . I cannot remember where it was, but it was my desktop picture for three months - though I tweaked the contrast and pushed it towards a sepia appearance.

We never talked about it, but is this a short par-4? How else would you get in that wonderful, sexy bunker?

Gib,

Yes I took that picture.  The hole has been photographed about as often as Anna Nicole Smith.  Sort of.  See July/August Links magazine.

It is indeed a shortish par 4.  The card says 380, but I recall it playing shorter than that.  Drive is downhill.

As David Tepper knows, I'll yak about Tain ad naseum.

If I get motivated I'll try to post a shot that renders the full effect.

OK here:

No takers on Elephant's A-hole?  What course?  Many of you have played it.

Byron,

Green is right behind those big titties.  Sorry I don't have a picture to illustrate it.  It's generally a wedge/9-iron right through the cleavage.

As an aside to the discussion at hand, I have always understood the term "Elephant's A--hole" in golf to mean a shot that could be best described as "high and crappy."

At Golf d' Il Biarritz there is a hole named [ and built to represent ?] Brigitte Bardot .

I think I prefer Dolly  :)
