This is a view from the highest point in Bridport, looking out over the bay to Barnbougle Beach and up the dunes.  The Beach is 32km long, with dunes all the way.  I have the first 7km all tied up, and the next 25km's is all coastal reserve.



This is a pic of a Mitsubishi Challenger being dwarfed by a 100ft high dune.



This looks across one of the many blowout to a dogleg right up hill 4 which i have etched in as a possible hole.

Please don't ask online for any volunteers to work on the course because my business couldn't take me leaving at this juncture.

So what's the latest update on a breaking ground? Once in motion, should be a quick course to build given that the architect will leave well enough alone.

I would like to be on hand for a GCA.com get-together within its first month of being open.

From a past thread, Barbougle has not yet been approved to be built due to financial dealings.  Doak can chime in again to elaborate.


Is it me, or does that shot of the giant dune dwarfing the vehicle look a lot like Pacific Dunes #13, just reversed?

Ran, i was talking to Tom when he was down in Australia last month.  I asked him about Jim Urbina's comments in his interview about building Beechtree in less than 5 months- this was of great interest to me as I had budgeted 9months to finish all the shaping and grassing of Barnbougle.  Tom confirmed that if we have all the right resources in place then we could finish the construction in less than 5 months.  This will be a huge cost-saving, and would mean that even if we don't start construction until next February, we could still have some of the course open by Christmas, and hopefully all done by the February 2004 at the latest.  Once again however, this is all tempered by our anxious wait for the expected approval for the Founders Bonds.  As mentioned in the other thread, my lawyers are very upbeat that we'll get the all clear in the next month.

And i can assure that there'll be a GCA preview tournament prior to opening.  Everyone welcome!  The 2nd and 3rd pics are of the adjoining site i have an option on (not Tom & Mike's course).  The last pic is David Scaletti at his classic best.

G'day Ralph, am greatly looking forward to putting on a Hickory tournament in Tasmania- but think that 'Ratho', Australia's Oldest Golf Course will be a more suitable venue.  However, i think we might have to do a little Hickory circuit, from New South Wales GC to Royal Melbourne to Barnbougle Dunes to Ratho.
