One-day Golfweek subscription deal
« on: July 11, 2007, 12:46:40 PM »
One year sub (45 issues) for a bargain $3.69.

Use code "DEALTAKER15" at checkout for an additional 15% off...gets it down to $3.14.

No-brainer for non-subscribers.  Deal expires midnight today 7/11.  Site is legitimate.

Quite probably the same as reading the Wall Street Journal.

 Bob,

I almost agree. I think it is more like Barron's; it comes once a week and is full of data and some commentary.

I'm a bit concerned about this deal.

First of all, of course, a $3.69 subscription...something doesn't add up.

Also, the registration process emphasizes not using an AOL email address. I've noticed a handful of other questionable sites that also don't allow AOL email addresses, as if AOL blocks them purposely.

Any insight on whether this deal is legit?

With deals like this, magazines get "subscribers".  Result is more eyeballs for its advertisements.  Also some (perhaps small) portion of these discount subscribers will re-up at a higher price next year.

View this opportunity to get the magazine cheaply as taking advantage of Golfweek's desire to have more subscribers (for which it is notionally paying a marketing "expense" by discounting the subscription).

Most magazines do the exact same thing.  "Only suckers pay retail" for magazine subscriptions.  Just do an ebay search to see how cheap you can subscribe to virtually anything.

The site is legit.

Thanks, I'm on my way to sign up.

PS. Kevin, I missed where you wrote in the first post that it's a legit site - I didn't mean to question your information.   ;D  MC

I wouldn't worry about it....deep discounts on magazine subscriptions are pretty common.  Personally, I paid less than $9 for a four-year subscription to Rolling Stone, $3 for a three-year subscription to Golf Digest, $16 for a three-year subscription to Golf World, and $9 for a three-year subscription to ESPN Magazine, among others.  All of which you can get on Ebay and pay with Paypal, not worrying about giving anyone your credit card.

It looks like you have to have a US address to take advantage of this deal or at least to create an account at the web site.

It would be hypocritical of me to subscribe at such a low price.  That being said, if someone wants to give me a nice gift at a fair price please have the magazine sent to the following address.

John Kavanaugh
P.O. Box 551
Lawrenceville, I'LL 62439

In return I will comment on the first issue in the margins and sell the item on ebay...signed of course.
