Sylvania ( W.Park) in Toledo
« on: July 07, 2007, 01:41:04 PM »
An aerial indicates that this 1917 design makes interesting use of a  looping brook. The south end  of  this property also catches my eye, as it  looks like three one shot holes are adjacent to one another. Willie Park Jr. did some great greens at Glen Ridge and New Haven. What are some of the highlights at Sylvania ?      thanks

I  thought id try this again, I believe tom Macwood and some architects think highly of this  Park jr. course. I hope to play it next  spring

being a New Haven member and having played Sylvania a few times, I can say this....this is the club to play in Toledo....all you ever hear about Toledo golf is Inverness, but I think SCC is a better member's course.......greens are not as big as New Haven's, but they are always in great shape

as was the case with NHCC, it could lose a few trees....several encroach the fw's and greens....I think the par 4s make the course...several different lengths, directions.  The brook does come into play on a few shots

you will have a great time there
