He (Rihc) understands my game
« on: July 05, 2007, 01:54:30 PM »
Reading the interview with Richard Goodale, something struck me which made it stand out for me.  Not only does he describe Carnoustie in terms of how the Open Championship contenders might play each hole, but he is also able to see the course in terms of the middle-handicap player.  It left me wondering how many other authors manage to include all levels of player and reader.

Darwin for one - who always showed humility.
Patric Dickinson was another.
Donald Steel's writing was very inclusive.
Peter Alliss in the old Good Golf Guide.

Dobereiner didn't do that for me.

Mark,

But you must admit Dobereiner was funnier than any of them.

Agreed Bob.

That is the viewpoint Jim Finegan starts from.

I'm going to hate myself for this, because of late this place has turned into a love in  ;), but other correct answers to Mark's question are Tom Doak, Ran Morrissett, Brad Klein and the authors of the World atlas of Golf who of course include MR.

Another who was more concerned with strong golfers would be Peter Allen.
