There is another recent addition to the Treehouse.

Scott Wilson is the eye behind the golf shots at the Wandering Golfer.

When we met several months ago I told him he should put his hours of his footage at St. Andrews on a disc and I'd be the first to buy.  I imagine there would be quite a few others who would as well.  Unfortunately there are some minor issues with such a concept.

Either way I thought he should come hang out where his work would be greatly appreciated.

His videography is excellent.

How long have you known of this treehouse?

From some of the great courses the show has displayed, I'd say it's been awhile.

The course videography is the reason I watch the show.  

I just wish this season would focus more on golf and less on the "sense of place".  I thought the earlier shows on Bandon and Riveria were perfect.  The recent Cape Kidnappers episode was very disappointing due to its lack of focus on golf.

Obviously, this wouldn't be Mr. Wilson's call!

Hello everyone, and I must say I am overwhelmed.  I never thought I'd discover a forum where people commented on The Wandering Golfer, let alone even saw the show!  I'm Scott Wilson, a Cinematographer who lives in Dallas and I am the cameraman for the WG.  I have to start out by stating that I don't write the show, I don't edit the show, I don't decide where the show goes.  But every single frame is shot by me.

I was a golf neophyte when asked by the producers to shoot the series.  But I immediately discovered a passion for the game, the people and the places I've had the good fortune to visit.  I'm currently in a hotel in Memphis shooting episode #39!

Thank you Mike for introducing me to this forum.  I've been reading comments for a while but have finally been able to log on as a member.  I plan to drop by often.  And if anyone has questions about the Wandering Golfer show or the places we've been to I'd be happy to discuss ad nauseum!

Scott, another nice thing to note...

Last year, I had about 6 episodes queued up on my TiVo and I burned them to DVD for another treehouse member.  He really liked the shows.

You should do a show on golf in Philly.  I've heard we have some pretty decent courses up here.  

I know they don't want or need the publicity, but can you imagine a show about Pine Valley?  I know it wouldn't happen, but it's a nice thought.

Those two girls at Rosses Point in County Sligo were probably my favorite guests on the show in all of three seasons.  I think one was the daughter of the club captain.  Chad did a great job in making them forget about the camera and just play golf like they do almost every day.  They were very funny, like most kids that age.

They made up a song about him on the spot, 'Very Feminine Chad'  It was hilarious but every time they sang it for the us they kept cracking up and could never finish it.  I made Chad & Sam, that episode's director, walk to the next tee and I had the girls try again, 5 more times!

They finally got it all the way through and the song made it into the show.  Now my kids sing it around the house.

So of course Chad's a good sport.

After we wrapped with them and shot a glorious sunset looking down the coastline from above the #17 green we headed into town for a few pints and that night watched Michael Campbell live as he won the US Open at Pinehurst.

Unforgettable day.

What new locations are coming up this year?  The last new one I saw was the one from Australia.

I actually love talking about the show, and my wife is tired of hearing it!  So I'm glad to answer any questions.  This season we have covered West Palm Beach - Gia's Journey Begins, Orlando, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Sydney, Melbourne, Tasmania (Barnbougle - should air soon), Sea Island, Tampa, San Antonio.  I'm currently in Memphis and we wrap here in 2 days.  After that it's Jackson Hole (although I heard today it may change to Kentucky) and San Francisco.

13 episodes make up a season, Chad did 2 seasons and 2 extra shows for 28, and Gia is adding 13 more.  On top of that I've shot specials for Fine Living Network like the Arnold Palmer Dream 18 and the Las Vegas Dream 18.  Man that's a lot of golf courses!

I've started my own line of golf and resort productions called Flagstick Films.  You can check out a lot of my course cinematography from the WG show there at http://www.flagstickfilms.com as well as golf scenics of my clients at Lajitas and Bermuda.

So shoot some WG questions my way and feel free to geek out.  I shot every single frame and I've watched every show about 20 times!

All I want to know is, how the hell do I get that guy's job, and get paid to travel all over the world playing great golf courses?
