In music there is 1685, the year in which Bach, Handel and Domenico Scarlatti were born.  Does GCA have a similarly remarkable year?

Mark - What year was Telemann born?

For golf it would be 1912, the year Nelson, Hogan and Snead were born.

Tom Paul, Ben Crenshaw and Andy Williams were all born on the same day!

Of course, since they are the same person, this probably doesn't count...... :'(

Telemann was 1681 - close but just off the putting surface.

1930

Jones completes the Slam, decides there's nothing left to accomplish playing golf, and heads off to Georgia to design the world's best known course (and one with considerable architectural merit).

RTJ Sr. teams with Stanley Thompson, a partnership that would change the course of golf architecture in North America for the next several decades.

Mark:

Dr. MacKenzie was born in 1870.  If I remember correctly, there were two or three other famous golf architects born in 1869 or 1870, but I can't remember whom.

Tom

You may be recalling an essay by Darwin (I don't have to hand) which I think was called the '69ers or something similar, he was amazed at the number of top players born in 1869.  Not sure about the rest but his list included Colt;  I'm sure some of the others were architects too.
