Heather, Gorse and Broom
« on: December 05, 2006, 04:49:29 AM »
Info for anyone building courses in the UK or Europe. I have been buying from Alba trees over the past few years and recommend them. Amongst other plants they produce heather, gorse and broom in cells and I have experienced a good success rate of growing these on 50% i'd say and we dont rabbitt guard. The cost is about 30p per plant. They are based very near to Tom Doaks new course, so I did mention to them to contact the Renaissance Club.
In 5 years they really look something and I have noticed some of our earlier planting is now regenerating.
Im trying Broom (Whins) for the first time and I am still tinkering with the heather, Ihave been thinking about planting the heather in a hole plug filled with a peaty soil.
A combination of whats good for golf and good for turf.
