Playing Yale
« on: July 23, 2006, 11:29:45 AM »
I'm playing my first round at Yale on Thursday.  Anyone care to share some advice that will bring a mid-teens handicapper around the course with the least amount of damage?

I haven't had much time to study up on the course; I know very little about the course other than the 9th green.

Any tips are appreciated.  Do you attack this course or play it defensively?  If it is a mix, then which holes do you go after - and how?

My modest advice after one round there is to grab a yardage book in the pro shop and use it extensively during the round. It is quite important to figure out where you don't want to miss (for example left on the approach to the 2nd) your shot on most of the holes.

Tim,
Just enjoy the round, aim at the middle of the greens, and soak up the flashes of brilliance you will see. The 3rd and 18th holes are probably the ones you could most likely use some guidance on, but I would imagine you will be playing with someone who knows their way around the course. Have fun and let us know what you think.
