June, June, June!!! Where are you playing this weekend?
« on: June 09, 2006, 03:19:13 AM »
March went out like a lion
Awakin' up the water in the bay;
Then April cried and stepped aside,
And along came pretty little May!
May was full of promises
But she didn't keep 'em quickly enough for some
And the crowd of doubtin' tonuses
Was predictin' that the summer'd never come

Men
But it's comin' by dawn,
We can feel it come,
You can feel it in your heart
You can see it in the ground

Girls
You can see it in the trees
You can smell it in the breeze

All
Look around! Look around! Look around!

Nettie
June is bustin' out all over
All over the meadow and the hill!
Buds're bustin' outa bushes
And the rompin' river pushes
Ev'ry little wheel that wheels beside the mill!

June is bustin' out all over
The feelin' is gettin' so intense,
That the young Virginia creepers
Hev been huggin' the bejeepers
Outa all the mornin' glories on the fence!
Because it's June...

All
June, June, June
Just because it's June, June, June!

Nettie
Fresh and alive and gay and young
June is a love song, sweetly song

All
June is bustin' out all over!
The saplin's are bustin' out with sap!
Love hes found my brother, Junior,
And my sister's even loonier!
And my Ma is gettin' kittenish with Pap!
June in bustin' out all over

Nettie
To ladies and men are payin' court.
Lotsa ships are kept at anchor
Jest because the captains hanker
Fer the comfort they ken only get in port!

All
Because it's June... June, June, June
Just because it's June, June, June!

Nettie
June makes the bay look bright and new
Sails gleamin' bright on sunlit blue

All
June is bustin' out all over
The ocean is full of Jacks and Jills,
With the little tail a-swishing'
Ev'ry lady fish is wishin'
That a male would come
And grab 'er by the gills!

Nettie
June is bustin' out all over!
The sheep aren't sleepin' anymore!
All the rams that chase ewe-sheep
All determined there'll be new sheep
and the ewe-sheep aren't even keepin' score!

All
On acounta it's June! June, June, June
Just because it's June, June, June!

I'm playing cricket at Kingston Bagpuize - during the England game as well :'(

Golf this evening at Goring and Streatley - lovely day for it. Who knows, the wife and kids may get a look in as well.

"Rain drops are falling on my head..."

Played Essex County in Mass on Tues. - Always a pleasure and made a new friend who subbed for an old one.

Wed. and Thurs. at Kittansett were rained out.

Sat. & Sun. back at Woodway./Will follow the action at Wetchester (SIC) when I am not playing.

"But there's one thing, I know
the blues they sent to meet me won't defeat me.
It won't be long 'till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops keep falling on my head
but that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turning red.
Crying's not for me, cause
I'm never gonna stop the rain by complaining
because I'm free
nothing's worrying me

It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me"

Good choice James ;)

Fortunately, we drain quite well at Woodway due to a fortuitous set of circumstance revolving around a site that was a former dairy farm as well as the interlinking of streams and the creation of ponds.

Columbia-Edgewater in Portland, Oregon, where it is currently about 40 degrees cooler than Palm Springs!   ;D ;D 8)

This is such a solid old classic Vernon Macan course, great rumpled fairways and slick tiered greens.   Last year the club built a wonderful big short game practice area and par 3 course.  It's a good addition for a club that has about 40,000 rounds a year, a year with maybe 8 months of pretty rainy weather!

Bill,

I played in the Hogan Cup twice at Riverside and I always enjoyed looking across the fence at Columbia-Edgewater, too. Someday...

Still looking for that fourth for Tuesday.

Matt,
I remember back in 1992, Riverside and C-E were thinking about  merging into a single golf club.  I wish they'd have done it.
(I was a member at Riverside)

I also think C-E's got the better course  ;)

I played Point Roberts yesterday (north of Seattle).

What an awesome course, I totally wasn’t expecting it to be that good!

I thought Graham Cooke did a great job on the design.

We are lucky to have so many great courses by Macan in this part of the world ;)

Andrew, I would be interested in a list of Macan courses if you have one.  Apparently there is a Macan Cup each year between member courses, similar to the Mackenzie Cup which will be in Santa Barbara this October at the Valley Club.  Anybody know anything about the Macan Cup?

I am playing Michelbrook in McMinnville, OR tomorrow. I have been told it is a good course. I have to wonder since I couldn't find it on www.golfcourse.com by that name. Eventually, after figuring out how to spell McMinnville and search without course name, I found this odd duck, Michelbook. I sent the website the correction. Apparently there hasn't been much interest in the course.
