Where should I play when I'm in Monterey?
« on: May 26, 2006, 11:55:50 PM »
I'm heading up to Monterey to play the California State Amateur June 19th through the 24th. I'll be playing a practice round at Poppy Hills on Sunday the 18th, but am looking to play somewhere on Saturday the 17th, since it looks like getting on to Pebble will be difficult.

Pasatiempo was my first choice, but it looks like there are no tee times available that day. Any suggestions???

Thanks,  :)

Pacific Grove is a pleasant muni. I really enjoyed The Shore Course (Strantz) at Monterey Peninsula Club.

If you are into saving money, stay at Borg's Motel. At $60 it can loosen up funds to play just about anywhere. ;D

Bayonet will test your accurate driving skills ...

I would also squeeze as many rounds as you can in at Poppy ... although it may seem like a straight forward course the first time around it, to play it well you must no where to put the ball on the green.

Heading up to Pasatiempo would be worth it but if you want to focus on getting ready for the CGA, play PH a few times.
