McLay Kidd's St Andrews New Course: In Golf Magazine
« on: May 18, 2006, 11:41:11 AM »
Admittedly, I am not the best one to post the photo from the Mag, nor do I think I should with infringment rights and all...but have a look at pg 36 in the new Golf Magazine.  It has a good aerial/Bird's Eye view of the entire site complete with routing notated..looks very interesting.  Perhaps others who have actually been there, Mr. Doak, can offer additional thoughts.

Still looking good from the road.  A few holes growing in and lots of huge mounds of dirt still lurking on the site.  It looks like Kidd is going for the Whistling Strait type of look (with more restrained bunkering ;)).

Not being able to see much in a photo either, it did look like 17 was like 16 at CPC and 18 was like 18 at Pebble, just going from left to right.

Not a bad couple of holes to copy.

I'm amazed that they where able to get that land.  Does anyone know who previously owned it and how much did the R&A pay.

It was a farm originally - walked the course last year, and it looks terrific.  A bit of Kingsbarns in feel, including the 17th hole par 3.  #18 reminds me a bit of #18 at Waterville.  It will have many unique features, including a double green 9/18.  A wonderful addition to the St. Andrews Links Trust family.  Not links turf, but they can't all be links................
