Behtpage procedure...
« on: April 08, 2006, 09:16:14 AM »
A friend and I are taking a golf trip out east this year and one of the courses on our "list" to play is Bethpage Black.  We were both discussing what the procedure is to play and thought I'd check with some other golf nuts like ourselves to find out.  I've read the stories in Sports Illustrated and seen tid bits here and there.  But, if we are going to be there on a weekday, what do we need to do to play?  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

-Brian

Sounds like those more local know better than I, but when I did it 2-3 years ago, we...

1) arrived in parking lot about 11 p.m. Saturday night and easily identified where the "line" was;

2) at 5 a.m. the ranger came out, checked IDs and put plastic bracelets with times on each person;

3) at 6 a.m. we moved from the parking lot to the pro shop and paid for our tee time.

4) Grab a quick snack, banged some rocks and teed off around 8:15.  A whole lot of fun and worth the experieince.

Sounds like a good time. How much are tee-times for the red and black course and is it possible to play the red course after a round on the black course.

Played the green two weeks ago and the greens and fairways were in good shape.  The Red opened a week later and I imagine weathered the winter as well as the others.

Ryan,

For non NYS residents the Red is I think $68 on a weekend and the Black is $102.  I may be wrong on the Red, but the fees did go up this year.

Cheers,

Dave
