PERILS OF PENNARD Revisited
« on: April 10, 2006, 07:14:12 AM »
I had the good fortune to meet Philip Gawith down at Pennard yesterday.  It was a bit chilly and we were hailed on a few times.  The hail didn't sting nearly as much as handing over 4 quid.  My mate and I were blanked in a £2 Nassau.  Tom Paul would have approved of the fast and firm nature of the course. I think the photos reveal just how firm the course is.  Mind you, the greens were not at a runaway pace - maybe 8-8.5.

The start of a chilly game

Philip eventually escaped from a very fluffy bunker

Approach to the 8th

The par 3 11th seen from the 10th fairway.  I reckon if that bunker was taken out people wouldn't know there is a green.

The 11th from the tee

The 11th green from the left showing the magnificent green site with a false front.

It is photos like these which explain why we lost the match.  From a duffed tee shot off the 13th.

Bill's (McBride) Bathtub - the 14th

The very unappetizing option from Philip's drive on #17.

Hopefully Philip will add some more photos.  Lord knows he took enough!

Ciao

If Philip's photos match the quality of his hat we're in for a treat!

Nice photos Sean. But there don't seem to be any holes with greens under a motorway here? ;)
