Dignity and stateliness are found in abundance at the Pinehurst Resort, even though it is a very busy public facility. The old Carolina Inn is dignified to the point of being downright boring at night, most of the local action is at the Pine Crest Inn, with some overflow at Duggan's. The surroundings, including the private homes in neighborhood, are beautifully kept and all very accessible. The golf, at least the courses at the clubhouse, is played on immaculately maintained grounds. It reeks of old money but is much more accessible these days. The roque on the courts in front of the clubhouse has transmogrified into lawn bowling, which doesn't have that old cachet, but overall, yes it is quite dignified at Pinehurst.
