Mike Sweeney,
I'm surprised by all of the negative comments regarding Liberty National, especially when noone's played it yet.
In an era when more and more courses are beoming NLE's why would you fault a man's efforts to build a golf course in the center of one of the most densely populated areas in the country.
He had the vision to acquire and old industrial site with a myriad of problems, go through a 5 or 6 year permiting process, comply with strict environmental constraints and build a golf course in an unusual way. And, he did it by spending his own money.
Everyone's throwing stones based upon what personal, first hand information ?
You should be applauding the efforts.
As to the merits of the golf course, I think it should be played before it's evaluated.
I know Tom Huckaby will love it due to the great views of the harbor and Manhattan.
As to the cost of condo's and membership, I would think that a man who sinks $ 129,000,000 and 6+ years into a project is entitled to attempt to recapture his investment.
And, Liberty Nationals membership's are no more expensive then those at Sebonack, so why the negativism ? Or, is this just an example of "most favored nation" status at its best ?
