Nonsense, Peter.  I saw plenty of good golf out of you that day.  Let's see how you play with temptation beckoning.  Takes a smart player to determine what's the appropriate play.  Well, that leaves Malone in a world of hurt.  But you and I should be just fine  ;)

Dan,

I suspect he would've shrieked seeing all the trees cluttering his courses, even as much as he loved trees.  He likely built 12 through 15 at Pine Valley and he'd be seriously agitated at seeing the compromises on those holes too (as well as the 4th).

We'll see if handicaps go up like I believe will happen or like most fear they'll go down.  Should be interesting, especially if they continue with the work on 7 at RGGC.  By the way, the large evergreen about 100 yards off the tee on the left is down.  I think it only a matter of brief time before the oak next to it is down as well.  The creek should be fully exposed and menacing.

Now if you'll start mowing fairway all around that bunker complex on #2.... ;D

Joe

Whoa whoa whoa... get some of the other trees down first.

Not a bad idea though, especially since the corridor is wider.

kyle,

I didn't mean "now" as in today, of course....or are they still mowing in Philly this winter?

Joe,

Depends... Rolling Green had tarps on. I don't think any other places are mowing.

Kyle:

Nice Pics.  I was on the course (RG) about a month ago and the trees that have been cut down in your pics (notably, the trees off the right side of the fairwaya at #4 and #7) had not yet been taken down.  I am pleased to see the tree removal process contine and I am excited to see how this affects the course's in-season conditioning -- which, unfortunately, has not been great over the last few years.
All architects will be a lot more comfortable when the powers that be in golf finally solve the ball problem. If the distance to be gotten with the ball continues to increase, it will be necessary to go to 7,500 and even 8000 yard courses.

Looks very impressive.
I really liked the course last year, and I can't imagine that these changes wont improve things dramatically.

You guys who belong to that club have a very good thing going!!!
