Thank you Tom..you "get" what I am trying to say 100%
I agree entirely with all you have written above..
I think that is one of the things that makes Pine Valley so very special, not only is the course beautiful, but the entire course is a major challenge, but very playable and ultimately fair.

Chances are, I'll never play some courses on a level with Pine Valley, Augusta National, or Sand Hills.  But if more similar (to these) courses emerged, I may have such an opportunity, albeit on a lower level.  And that's beter than not experiencing anything like it.

Couldn't agree more.  Mr. Doak, C&C et al, please come build great, low cost formulatic-template courses near ME!

Matt,

Where are you exactly?  I've got about a dozen maps of different properties on my desk right now.

Unfortunately not many of them are planned as public golf courses.  Ron Whitten told me yesterday that GOLF DIGEST may have to drop the "affordable public" category altogether pretty soon, due to a lack of new entries.

Mr. Doak,
By any chance, are any of those maps in the Pinehurst/NC area?  We would love to have one of your courses here in the Triad.

Rumor has it that C&C have a Pinehurst course in the works.

Well, THERE'S a story.

And a tragedy, in golf terms.
