Annandale and Ekwanok 1910 Panoramics
« on: November 27, 2005, 01:15:39 AM »
Hot on the heals of the PVGC I came across some cool panoramics of Annandale and Ekwanok golf courses taken in 1910 on ebay. The seller has magnified so you can make out some of the features of the course a little better.

Annandale is a trip with it's bunkers and mounding.  Too hard to make too much out, but maybe Tommy or Geoff might have some better understanding of whats in the pic.

Ekwanok looks pretty cool with a group of people watching a match in progress.

2nd pic at Ekwanok has more architecture in the pic.  Interesting bunkers to the front of the green that are crescent shaped with a mound running down the middle. Or so it appears to me at least.

Would be cool to see pictures of the same holes as they exist today!! Trees be damned.

Tull,
That shot is taken from the hillside on the North end, looking South. I live over the leftside of those hills in the distance. Beyond those two bunkers canterleving one another, is where the 210 freeway now exists.

Yes, this picture makes me physically ill.

Tull,
It just occured to me what the majority of all these photos are missing.

Golf carts.

The images are missing golf carts in all of the important places letting us know just how far the game has regressed into a horrible mess from which it will probably never recover.

Gotta go, my golf cart at Stone Eagle awaits me.

Sean,

Thanks for this, I wil let the Travis Society guys know about this auction.

I will also email Bruce, who works with Ekwanok to see if they would like to bid on them (or if they have them).

These are fairly common pics - they appear on Ebay all the
time. I think they can also be bought commercially - perhaps from
the NYPL site.
