Duval leads Woods by a shot in Japan  :o :o :o

Miyazaki, Japan (Sports Network) - Former World No. 1 David Duval, mired in a monumental slump since breaking through with his only major victory at the 2001 British Open, fired a six-under-par 64 on Thursday to lead Tiger Woods by a stroke after the first round of the Dunlop Phoenix.

Wouldn't that be amazing...

One round does not a comeback make (that sounded like Yoda!)

...but I'd love to see my fellow Yellowjacket emerge from the ashes, go David!

Played well for one round did he.

Unconvinced am I.

But very cool this is.

Great would it be if Duval won a tournament.

More competition Tiger does need.

Are you absolutely sure DavidD played all 18 holes in the first round? Sounds to me like he got disoriented and perhaps went from 15 green to 18 tee.

Rumor has it they are letting him buy up to three mulligans these days. The good news is he only used two of them in shooting 64. The bad news, he cannot carry over any extra's to the next round.

Mike - it is a testament to the man's greatness and staying power.  I for one sure as hell did think it was about he who must not be named from Indiana.  In fact that's the only reason I opened the topic.

Me too, I thought it was about Barney. Hasn't he been in excile long enuf?
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Duval backed up that 64 with a 2-under 68 on Friday. He's now tied with Tiger Woods of all people one stroke behind Jim Furyk who's leading the tournament at -9 after two rounds.

A 1-over 71 on Saturday for DD (68 for Woods and 70 for Furyk). Scores on Saturday are not very low, a lot of rounds over par. DD is now third, 3 shots behind Woods.

3 good rounds in a row, maybe D Duval has found his game.

Go David, catch' em !
