Gibraltar vs Redan
« on: November 08, 2005, 09:50:40 AM »
What exactly is the difference between these two holes?  Or are they essentially the same concept?
I know MacKenzie has said he was unfamiliar with the Redan when he did Moortown.  Is that actually true?

I asked about this a few weeks ago.  I believe the Gilbalter does not have the tilt that a redan has for a run up shot.

Thanks Jason, guess that's what I get for not reading every day.

By tilt, do you mean a right-to-left area of fairway short and right of the green?

Andy - I may be wrong about this.  Here is an old thread someone posted within the last few days.

Hope this helps.

Strategy may be similar, but what has come before and what will come after won't be the same.  These may be famous holes, but they are 1/18th of a course.  They may be much more than that... Why should they be so influential?
