Thanks Mike.

I have great respect and admiration for Paul, and it's nice to have an outlet to promote his work.

I'm disappointed this post didn't get more response. I thought this group would show a bit more interest in an article about a GCA favorite written by a GCA favorite.

Love it, hate it? Tempt any of you to buy a Daley book you currently don't have? His books already discussed enough?

O fellow bearded one

I acquired all 3 volumes last week, $210 Australian well spent.  Delivered by mail in a couple of workdays (one of the benefits of being in Australia).  Some lovely essays and many, many fantastic pictures.  Hours of reading to come.  The mottled hues of green and brown and blue of the multitude of photo's are something else.  I think the only continent that was missed was Africa (I could be wrong).  Pictures from Western and Eastern Europe, the far East (Japan, Korea and China I think), the antipodes (Down Under) as well as North America and Ireland/Great Britain. The content will appeal to all who enjoy gca.com

A cross between a coffee table picture book, an educational golf architecture book and a general interest book by three volumes.  They certainly pass the 'weight' and 'thickness'
test.  And big enough print/picture size for old eyes to read at night too! ;)

James,

If you don't have a copy of Paul's first book it must be your next purchase.  Links Golf by Paul is the means by which I

A) Planned a 6 week jaunt through Scotland and Ireland.  I bought the book and received first hand tips from the author regarding my trip and what was possible.  This from a bloke I had only ever encountered through email.  Somehow I went from a proposed schedule of 5 or 6 courses to 28 rounds on 26. His enthusiasm for the game is incredibly infectious and is transmitted via his writing, YOU ARE WARNED.

B) Eventually found my way to this website

So to Paul, Many thanks.

Am waiting very (im)patiently for its arrival.

 ;) :)

I sense that there are a whole bunch of GCA copies in mid-air flying to 'regulars' of this website.

Richo: Your copies have long departed. With the US postal authorities on full terrorism alert, perhaps large parcels are arriving and then being detained for extra perusal.

The crew will enjoy your co-authored essay (Tom E. Paul) - "The development and selling of a master plan to the membership". An exhaustive and considered account of the safeguards to undertake, it should prove to be very useful
for both golf club members and committees. Outlining motivations, sensitivities, research, dealing with and minimising 'membership resistance', and so forth, are all very real issues for discussion.

Sean: It is never a hardship to chat about Links Golf and sip a cappuchino; we'll do it some more soon.

Dan: Decent of you, but I understand that everyone is busy these days, and it may reflect that many haven't recieved copies as yet. The GCA site is loaded with heavyweight threads, so there is never any expectation at this end.

James:
Thank you for purchasing all three volumes. A question: do you have 100 golf buddies who like reading as much as you?

You've nailed the description of the book, and, yes, Africa is the only continent not represented in V3. It is in previous volumes to a small degree.

I'll pass the comment about print-size on to my book designer, Andy Cunningham, who likes feedback on these issues. Glad that GAV-3 doesn't send you scurrying for a magnifying glass.

Paul

My friends tell me that I am unique! :o  I'm beginning to agree with them.  So, not sure whether we'll get 100.  10 would be a good start.

I did take the three volumes to our Committee Meeting the other night, and everybody that saw them were impressed.  Now, whether they would spend any money and buy them, we'll see.  Christmas is coming, and each of the three volumes look like mighty fine presents.

Perhaps I'll take Sean's tip and suggest Links Golf as a Xmas present from my mother-in-law (better than socks and jocks ;D).  Last year, my in-laws 'gave' me MacKenzie's 'Spirit of St Andrews' and Doak's co-authored  book on MacKenzie's works.  Pretty cool. 8)

To anyone who is thinking about getting Paul's latest book, in the words of the famous one (Tommy Naccarato), run, don't walk!
Its fantastic. Paul's best book yet and the sheer number and variety of the essays is numbing, while the photos are the best ever I think. Much kudos to Mr Daley and I know he has plans for many interesting ones coming up.

James: Now that you have bought all three volumes you can return the one you borrowed from me! Paul, any commission coming my way ;D
