Aerial of the Day #310 - Updated
« on: June 08, 2005, 09:04:05 AM »
Had this one prepared already and figured this was as timely
as it's gonna get, considering a concurrent thread.

This was a Friday stumper first go 'round.

Clue: a famous designer made his first ace here in 1923 on the 7th hole.

When in Rome....

Hopefully I'll see this at the end of July.  It sure looks like I'll go gaga over it  ;)

It appears that some bunkers were removed over time.  Is the ground flat or does it rise from the lake?

If you've never been told the correct pronunciation for this
course, you wouldn't get it right by guessing.  Native
American name, I assume.  All of the "digital" lakes in upstate
region of my childhood state are Native American names.
The lake shown is not one of them   ::).

Town built in 2+ days.

A few miles from here is the Erie Canal.

Yes, I finally got one.  :D

Not because I recognized the course mind you.  It was the clues.

Assuming the nearby park is named after the lake you might say the lake's origin is more Greek than anything.   ;)

Named with the Mohawk word for "by the river", although that refers to the earlier location by the Mohawk River. Now its on ***** Lake, like ***** Burke a team of women designers.
