Summer Internship Opportunity
« on: April 28, 2005, 10:13:39 AM »
I am looking for a student interested in a summer internship in my office.  I would prefer a landscape architecture student with Autocad experience.  Autocad knowledge is a must.  The scope of work you would undertake will run the gamut of golf architecture.  It will be a well-rounded experience that includes on-site experience.  You will have the opportunity to experience all aspects of a small golf architecture business, from marketing to conceptual design to construction document preparation to field observation.  Our office is in Pinehurst, North Carolina, site of this year's US Open.

I am anxious to find the right intern as the workload is piling up and we need help.  If interested, please respond by e-mail through this website as I am out of the office until Monday or leave a message at the office, 910-255-3111.

If you want more information about Richard Mandell Golf Architecture, please visit our website at www.golf-architecture.com.  I also have an old feature interview here on this website.  If you are interested in the type of work we do, you can also visit, "The best course no one will ever play" in the In My Opinion section of this website as well.

Thank you,

Richard Mandell

Richard,

Can't say that I'm interested in an internship, but I did enjoy your In My Opinion article. Sounds like a great opportunity squandered.

Good luck finding a qualified candidate.

Rich,

I finally got a chance to play at Raleigh CC today now that a bunch of the restoration changes are completed and in play.  I know there is still much to do and some areas to grow in, but so far it looks excellent.  #3 and #9 looks especially good, and the changes on #10 & #12 will make it very interesting from the new tees.  I didn't take any pictures, but will later this year and get them into a piece on Raleigh CC for MHC.  From everything I've heard, the memnership is really excited about all the work you're doing out there.

For those prospective interins out there, don't be discouraged by Rich's name not being as well-known as Doak or C&C.  He has his hands in every aspect of the business, and being a lesser-known name, you'll get the chance to experience all aspects of the business.  Not to mention Rich is a really good, down to earth, hard working guy.

Brian:

I am glad you got back out to Raleigh CC to see the renovation/restoration work and that you like what you see.  I wonder if anyone else here has made it out there yet?

If I can help in any way for your piece on RCC later this fall, let me know.  I know a few Donald Ross Society members will be up there this weekend to play after the get-together in Pinehurst.

Thanks again

I'll be out there in about 4 weeks, and will try to take some pictures.
