So...first, the photos you want to post MUST reside somewhere on the WEB...and not in My Yahoo photos or something similar. This is the most important aspect of posting photos on GCA. Once your photos are on the web, you are golden.
To actually get the photos to appear within a thread on GCA, you simply start a new thread, or respond to a current one. In your text response, you will include UBB CODE directed to the image which resides on the web. Here is a link to an explanation of how to properly use and incorporate UBB code:
http://www.windyhop.org/ubb/ubb2/ubbcode.htmlIt is really quite simple. For an image to appear, you just sandwich the actual URL (or location info) between the codes [*img] and [*/img] (without the *). As an example:
yada, yada, yada text
[*img]http://www.efleisher.com/EvanFleisherPortraitSmall.jpg[*/img]
yada, yada, yada text
When you post this reply, you will see the actual text, then the image, then the additional text. A few things to remember about posting images:
* Image Size...you may have to play around with the images actual size. Sometimes, photos appear too large within the thread and are hard to view without having to scroll around. You can use an image resizing program to change the picture dimensions making it easier to view online. If you have
to do this, just re-save the new image online and it will simply replace the old one.
* File Size...everyone wants to see a clear picture, but if the image file size is too big, the webpage will take forever to load. try to minimize the image's file size to around 50-200KB. If you have bigger image file sizes (like 800KB-1.2MB), then use a similar image manipulation program to resave the file under a smaller size.
