Oblique Aerials of Strantz' MPCC (Shore)
« on: January 24, 2005, 01:49:39 PM »
A little surprised no one has posted these yet, but the
California Coastal Records Project's web site has recent
photos of the CA coastline that get updated fairly often.
Hence, the recently completed MPCC (Shore) can be seen
from the air to complement the nice ground shots a few here
have posted.  Someone else can fill in what holes these are.

EDIT: Since I changed the pics from my web site to the
CCRP's I know posting from there is unreliable, so here's the
direct link if you can't see them below:

MPCC (Shore) on CCRP

Click on each pic to see them enlarged, and then click
the "Northwest 1" button to pan up the course one frame at
a time and then click on each one to enlarge:

EDIT again, according to the rules I have to post a thumb with a link to the large version:

You sure those are from the ecoterrorists -- the California Coastal
Commission? Or could they be from Ken Adelman's way cool and
private project, The California Coastal Records Project?

Yes, that's what they're from.  I thought that the CCRP was
a CCC project to keep track of the coastline.  Sorry if that's
not correct.  If it's not a CCC thing, then I guess they have
no redeeming value?   ;) 8)

I'd be mindful of unauthorized use, particularly in a thread
that refers to the owner as an ecoterrorist.  :o  :-X As the Streisand episode illustrated, he's not afraid of a little litigation.

Sean,

Aerials from the CCRP have been shown here many times in
the past, and if the CCRP is not a CCC thing, then I'm going
to correct the attribution that Dan already provided.  I didn't
post them directly from their site because their site is a bit
unreliable when it wants to appear.  Would posting directly
from their site with an attribution be fine?  Certainly that's
been done in hundreds if not thousands of threads on this site.

Is that a tee in the far right of the first pic? is it for the par 3 there or for another hole on a different course. if it is a tee for the Par 3 what is the length does any one know?

Thanks for showing the par-3 14th hole, reminding me of one of the worst Wolf calls in the history of betting on the golf course ...

I'm guessing that's a "random patch of grass".

Scott - I've become more sensitive lately to use of photos,
particularly where the source has a well developed
license/use policy (as the CCRP does). I wasn't admonishing
you, I promise. I was merely offering it as a word to the
wise(r).  :D

Was this pre-opening?  Not a soul on the course from the looks of it. . . .

The date these were taken was Oct 11, 2004, which was a
Monday, when most private clubs are closed.

I'd be shocked if he had any problem with people using these images
just to show some of the coast. As long as you aren't for profit, it
looks reasonably okay.

You might want to read their page on using their pictures

Ken Adelman is doing this project on his own dime. It is a private
enterprise, though they do appreciate donations. It's a very cool Web site,
I've spent hours looking around on it. He also now has historical data of
some of the coast, so you can look back at images from 1972, 1979 and 1987.
It's cool to look up how some of our coastal courses have changed over the
last few decades.

Also the Streisand issue wasn't ever the Adelmans suing Barbara Streisand,
it was Babs suing the Adelmans.

Perhaps I should amend my post to read:

"more sensitive, but less sensitive than others"  ???  :-[  ;D

My attorney(in-training  :)) informed me of the correct way
to link to the CCRP pics.  The original post has been modified yet again.
