Jason, its cheap.  Our dollar is stronger against the USD than it was a few years ago ($1 = $0.80USD, compared to $0.50USD in ~2001), but you'll have a cheaper golfing holiday here than many other places.

As a Manager's introduced guest at the top clubs, you'll pay $100-250; and as a Member's guest you'll pay $40-100 (AUD).  Barnbougle is $80 per round or $100 for a day ticket (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

I imagine that accomodation costs are quite reasonable when compared to America or Europe.

Jason,

It's pretty good value.  $1.00 US should get you around $1.25 Aus at the moment.

Accomodation varies according to where you stay, of course.  Many B&Bs in the UK can be had for between 20-60 pounds sterling per night ($45-130Aus), and we generally don't have a lot of accomodation at the bottom end of that range, however the upper should be more than enough to find something pretty reasonable.

I can't imagine that Australia would be all that more expensive to get to than europe, especially from the West coast.  I bought a one way return ticket to Australia in London in September, for 441 pounds sterling - almost half of what it would cost me from here - so I imagine you can get a pretty good price in the vastly bigger US market.

If you live on the East coast, you could always hitch a ride with Greggy.  ;)

Chris,
You are fairly spot on, but international green fees at RM and KH are 300 and 250 respectively. Still a bargin when you consider there is not a better course in the world that costs 240 US, than RM.

Ben, but remember that if Jason behaves himself (!!!), I'll be able to ensure that he's paying the member introduced green fee, rather than going through the manager.

Thanks for the info guys :)  I obviously dont have anything planned immediately, but had a feeling that if the airfare was doable that this would not be too bad of a trip, price wise.

Now how far is it from Australia to New Zealand ;D
