Dye/Nicklaus collaborations

Have any of you guys played Dogpatch in Lake Geneva, Wisc, or either course at Johns Island (Fl?), or Wabeck GC in Bloomfield, MI? I haven't heard of any of these and is wondering what anyone who has played them thought of them.
"Perimeter-weighted fairways", The best euphemism for containment mounding I've ever heard.

Ed

I have played Wabeek CC several times.  It is different from many Nicklaus courses in  distance.  It is probably close to 800 yards shorter than some of his monsters (like The Bear in Traverse).  Wabeek is not course to spend much time over.  Very bland, but harmless.  It's ok, but there are probably 40 courses better within a 40 mile radius.

I've had the chance to play John's Island South on a couple of occasions.  One prior to it being renovated by Craig Schreiner and once after.  It's a development course, typical Florida flat.  The fairways are heavily tree-lined, mostly with Oaks.  This is in keeping with the 50% canopy that I've heard all occupied lots must have there.

Before the renovation, the course had some similar looks to Harbour Town.  The course is routed in two loops working South (front) and West (back) away from the clubhouse.  There was a bunker on the front nine, I think #6, that had railroad ties as it's face.  This has since been removed.  The greens were smallish, and not too severely pitched as I remember.  They had some subtle internal contouring, but not a lot.  The thing that stood out to me about the course is it's general tight layout.

Schreiner's work was mostly a green and fairway renovation which has improved the condition of the course.  He did remove a couple of Dye touches, but the general theme of the course has remained.

The dogpatch is now called the highlands, and was completely redone by Bob Cupp a while ago.  Second Shivas's view.  Of course, for a good example of designing for maintenance, check out the other course at the Grand Geneva, the Brute, where bunkers are big ovals designed so that riding mowers can fit between them and the green.

Public golf in Lake Geneva is actually pretty mediocre, although a new course opened there a couple years ago I haven't played.  Otherwise, the best course is probably the Gary Player course at Geneva National.  Res ipsa.
