Can anyone decipher the plethora of courses in Destin, I will be there over Labor Day, access is not an issue, just want to find a decent layout nearby.  thanks

Top choices (I've played 1 and 2, not 3)

1.  Sharks Tooth - at Wild Heron (east of Destin toward Panama City Beach) - Greg Norman
2.  Camp Creek - just a little east of Seaside off Scenic Highway 30A - Tom Fazio
3.  Raven at Sandestin - RTJones Jr. renovation

Have fun

Access is not an issue?  Easy, try these...

1. Shark's Tooth
2. Camp Creek
3. Burnt Pine
4. Raven

Skip Kelly Plantation and Regatta Bay.

Be sure to eat at the Red Bar, the only place I could term a gourmet dump.

Destin is my favorite place in Florida.

For a hoot, drive to play Lagoon Legend on Panama City Beach.

Agree with John - and on your way to Lagoon Legend, listen to some 80's music to set your frame of reference.

I prefer Seaside/Watercolor to Destin, only because is smaller and less commercialized.  Both are terrific.  For a gourmet (not-dump), eat at the Fish out of Water at the Watercolor Inn.  One of the best in all of Florida.

Have fun.

I have played lagoon legend.. it was about 8 years ago though... They claimed it as the toughest in florida...  Lots of water is about all I remember.. It was better than the other course on that property.

My favorite restaurant over that way is Criollo's on 30A at Grayton Beach.  ;D ;D  Great food and better service.  I second John's choice of the Red Bar, a great dump.  Grayton Beach is super, better by far than Destin which has become very busy and tres chic.  For the Redneck Riviera that is!  :P

I tend to agree with the group here that Shark's Tooth is the best of the bunch in the Destin area, although it's a pretty long drive to get there.  The last I checked, Shark's Tooth is still pretty tough to gain access to and hence wasn't real busy either time I visited.

If you need a pecking order I would go:

1.  Shark's Tooth
2.  Camp Creek
3.  Kelly Plantation
4.  Burnt Pine
5.  Raven at Sandestin
6.  Regatta Bay

If you are staying at the Hilton, eat at Seagars.
