Many seem to think that there's a need for a competition golf ball to basically reign in the distance spike amongst elite players. But what if a new regulation was instituted on golf ball conformance for all that basically reigned in some of the distance increase of the elite and didn't effect the distance of the rest of us? Do you think that would preclude a call for a competition golf ball?

Paul Richards argument that bifurcation already exists, seems to blur the lines between the rules of golf and the playing abilities of golfers. I find the argument as compelling as his analysis of Spanish Bay.
