Title: Thermal, CA new course by Gil
Post by: Paul Jones on December 21, 2021, 02:34:45 PM
Looks like Gil Hanse is building a high-end course in Thermal, CA - https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2021/12/21/proposed-exclusive-california-golf-course-gil-hanse/ (https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2021/12/21/proposed-exclusive-california-golf-course-gil-hanse/)

Membership capped at 50 with max of 25 people playing the course on any given day...

From the picture in the article, looks like a flat piece of farm land.

When I tour El Escorial near Madrid, I see photos of families that restricted themselves to 50 members. How they change from generation to generation.

Sounds like Irv has put together an A team led by David Smith and they are moving quickly.  They completed 2 years of permitting in 4 months and have already cleared the site.

The pictures aren't reflective on the article as they're going to move over a million yards of dirt.  They hope to be open by the end of next year.
