Title: Shaw Hill by Laurence Allamby
Post by: Marty Bonnar on August 02, 2021, 04:06:56 PM
Their website attributes the design to the 19 year old Mr Allamby between 1923 and 1925. It further states that he had ‘studied golf architecture and course design under the world famous course architect Dr Alister MacKenzie’.
I’m quite intrigued. Anyone have any further info on their relationship?
Cheers,
F.

Interesting find.  But I haven’t seen the name before.

Absolutely, Tom. I was hoping either you, Crafty or one of the other chronology guys might have an idea…

So I emailed the Club/Hotel asking if they had documents or any other material with evidence of correspondence between MacK and Mr Allamby. Their reply was that they have no access to any information.
Odd, but not entirely unexpected.
Cheers,
