Would love to see a restoration, but I'm not holding my breath.

My only Ross! My father moved to Sarasota in retirement and I played the "British Course" with him on a visit in the early-90's. No idea it was a Ross until years later. The second 18 is called the American course and was undergoing a major renovation at the time.

Reading the history of the club, I see:
1926 - Original Ross 18 opened
1952 - 9 holes added by RB Harris
1967 - 9 holes added by Roy Albert Anderson. At this time the original Ross 18 was divided, with 9 holes paired with each of the newer nines.
1987 - Ron Garl renovation to the American course which includes one of the Ross nines. In the words of the Friends of Bobby Jones Golf Club: "...the work consists of significant revisions to holes No. 10 through 18 of the historic 1925 Donald Ross course, altering the Donald Ross Design Intent..."
So it seems only 9 holes of Ross remain at Bobby Jones.

Just maybe help is on the way: http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20151214/ARTICLE/151219790/0/search
Of course, it will probably move at the pace of a glacier. Interesting quote:
Among the most controversial aspects of the plan is the redesign of the two 18-hole golf courses to “capture the spirit” of the original architect, Donald Ross. Some citizens and committee members had warned against returning the courses to the nearly 90-year-old designs, while others supported the move.“The question of whether it should be Donald Ross or Donald Duck or anybody is one that should not be answered now,” said former study committee member Clarence Rogers. “It's something the master planner will get to after all of the facts have been unearthed.”

I am going to be down that way next week so I might play there and take "before" shots of the course. I am not expecting all that much other than checking off a Ross.
