Title: New NGLA book: Brassies, Mashies, and Bootleg Scotch
Post by: Chip Gaskins on September 07, 2011, 03:48:38 PM
Cool looking new book, haven't read it yet, just ordered it.  Looks like our Josh Smith was chosen for the artwork, good on him!

Brassies, Mashies, and Bootleg Scotch: Growing Up on America's First Heroic Golf Course

http://www.amazon.com/Brassies-Mashies-Bootleg-Scotch-Americas/dp/0803236425/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1315412591&sr=1-1

According to the reviews, seems to be some stories in here about Macdonald coming back to see NGLA one more time before he passes...I am sure we can debate that can't we?

Do they carry it in their pro shop?  Looks awesome.

Thanks much for the heads up, Chip - I hadn't heard a single thing about this. I'm a big fan of (as one of the reviews put it): "...crisply described and warmly nostalgic anecdotes [though which] a theme emerges: golf courses were different, far richer places in Kilpatrick's father's day than they are today, in our technologically powered age of titanium drivers and automated watering systems."

Wow, I didn't even know it was in production yet.  Can't wait to read it.  Sounds like a cool story.
