Hi Happy New Year to Ran and all at GCA from N Ireland. We have had the worst snow every here and the lowest temperatures since records began, but I realise it is very small fry compared to N America and Canada. Being not used to no golf I decided to write a poem dedicated to the local golf nuts. Hope it raises a smile and there is a photo of 10 and 18 at Belvoir Park in Belfast, my home course.
S(no)w Golf
There’s snow on the ground, and it’s hanging around
We golf nuts know not what to say
Our clubs gather dust, some even have rust
There’s nowhere to go out and play
The books we’ve all read, they lie by the bed
Golf DVDs stacked in a pile
We’ve watched them all twice, we can now cure our slice
Surely snow will be gone in a while
We swing in the hall, by the mirror so tall
We can now hid a fade or a draw
The secret we’ve found, low scores will abound
If only there could be a thaw
But be of good cheer, as you drink a cool beer
And be sure it will soon go away
Just be thankful you’re here, not Canada dear
Where the thaw doesn’t start until May
It’s hard not to fuss, for real golf nuts like us
As it’s birdies and pars we dream of
But the truth I must tell, though I whisper not yell
Other things are as much fun as golf!
Finally the thaw has come so the final verse was added
The thaw’s here at last, it came on quite fast
And the course is at last shades of green
The golf nuts awaken, though still slightly shaken
Some think it was just a bad dream

Johnny,
Awesome, serene shot there! Happy New Year to you! 8)

Enjoyed it Johnny, and the fine photo...looks to be a fair amount of foot traffic about the course!
-
Johnny,
Is that the 18th on the right shot from the clubhouse at Belvoir?
Aidan.

Yes Aidan
It was taken from the balcony of the new clubhouse looking toasted Black mountain.
Regards,
Johnny

It is about 55 with no snow in Toronto -- lowest amount of snow in more than 100 years to date. As long as the snow in Ireland is gone by May, I'll be happy, though I'm sure those in Ireland won't be pleased if it stays much longer.

Thanks Johnny,
What a difference a season and a little height makes. Best wishes.
Aidan.
