Gee, Paul, crummy weather for your day at Bandon. ;D

clean living pays off again Phil! ;) ::) :P

twas gorgeous..that 2-3 club wind in the afternoon keeps it quite interesting...1st round at 12, a 5wood went 25 yards long...2nd round, a 4 iron went 25 yards long

Paul, I can't wait to play #6. My favorite hole at St Andrews is #14. From the tees you played, how far was it to the Hell bunker and how far from tee to far edge?  (Thinking about what combination of two shots it would take to carry safely from that tee, a calculation I always make on TOC before playing safely left!).   ;D

Is there room to play left a la TOC?

Great photos Paul, thanks for posting (so such thing as too many photos or too many threads showing off what seems to be a great course).

And it looks like you totally lucked out on the weather!

Is that golf bag on the sixth green? If so, is it a transgression or do the agronomical circumstances afford such behavior, like the golfers in Britain who roll their three-wheelers right over the green?

Ace - 6 goes directly into the summer wind...yardage book states its 392 yds from 2nd tee to beginning of the bunker....and there is room to play to the left

and do try to avoid the bunker...unlike I whose well struck 3 wood was unfortunately pushed and found the hazard...a good lob wedge did get me out tho ::)

that bag is off the green....very little distinction between the greens and surrounding areas...the sprinkler heads determine where the greens end

the caddie in my group did lay the light bag he was carrying on the green a few times

Paul,

Thanks for the photos.  2 questions....From the #7 tee that you played from , how far is it to the fw bunker on the left?  What is the length of #7 from the back tee?

from 7 tee its 252 to left bunker

from the back tee 7 is 363 Jonathan.....i.e., a lauyup off the tee for big hitters

10 tee, Bottle, 440 yds..very tricky driving hole

10th green

11 green
[IMG]http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i204/pthomas2006/DSCN7927.jpg)

of course i left my ball in a terrific spot just short of the bunker ::)

12 green Redan...balls will slide into that left bunker
(http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i204/pthomas2006/DSCN7930.jpg)

13, Leven, 319 yds

13 green
(http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i204/pthomas2006/DSCN7933.jpg)

14, Maiden, 297 yds...2nd up the BIG hill
(http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i204/pthomas2006/DSCN7935.jpg)

14 green from 15 tee
(http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i204/pthomas2006/DSCN7938.jpg)

15 , 482 yd par 5, Westward Ho
(http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i204/pthomas2006/DSCN7939.jpg)

16, Alps, 433 yds....the hill on the left side past the bunker is 20? feet high and you probably have to carry it on your 2nd shot
(http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i204/pthomas2006/DSCN7942.jpg)

the rest in a bit...

Thanks for posting Paul.  I'll take Matt's question a different direction and ask how you would divide 10 rounds between OM and Rock Creek?

Matt, i think i'd take 3 at OM and PD and 2 at BD and BT...

Kyle, i'd go 5-5 between OM and Rock Creek

16, from left side..there is an aiming pole on the hill you must hit over, and the caddie advised me to aim right over it...but i dont think that is right, because it brings into play the bunker you see if you dont hit it far enough, which i didnt during my 2nd round

17 tee, 515 yd par 5, Littlestone...BIG hitters can try and drive on the right side over the marsh to get a clear look at the green
(http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i204/pthomas2006/DSCN7944.jpg)

17 from left side of fairway where us not long hitters go..and then must deal with bunker near the green straight ahead...

but my 2nd wound up near the right side of the green, so i had to deal with a small hill there as well...flag barely visible behind it

18 tee, Punchbowl, 426 yards...that right fairway bunker is reachable, trust me

from right side of fairway

18 green!
