Random, user created nonsense.
Certainly its stupidity either way.

John Huarte the '64 Heisman Trophy winner loved to vacation in St Barts. Is he a golfer?

It's good to hear that Tiger is okay.

Where on earth do you think?
From one of the twenty or so boats that are anchored in the harbor.
It may be "Random, user created nonsense: certainly it's stupid either way" as you so wrote. However, I see you participated in the twenty page thread of the other Tiger nonsense, why denigrate this?
Should you come up with the tired old argument about not architecture related, then you'll lose half the content of this site. Which on the whole might be a good thing.

That's being generous. Maybe half the threads but in recent times more like 25% of the total verbiage posted here is architecture related in any meaningful sense of the term.

I am sick and tired of threads like this.
Why can't you guys post some pictures to go along with the posts so we less reading kind of guys can enjoy.
Tiger is all about golf architecture. Mounds, curves, hairy faced cavernous pits and the like.
I need pictures to fully grasp what architectural merit you are referring to on this thread ;D

St. Barths is a great destination for New Years!... Topless beaches, and the parties on the super yachts are always filled with the best hookers on the island. But the cell service is spotty at best!
-
I was talking with a co-worker today who said she has a friend who was a waitress in an airport lounge about 20 years ago and served young teen Tiger and daddy. Tiger was busy doing homework while Saint Earl proceeded to hit on said waitress. Is it in the genes?

One more INANE ATTEMPT to avoid ATTETION by Tiger.

Threads like this make me want to set myself on fire. It's no wonder the old gaurd speeks of the demise of the DG. Since all the other Tiger Affair threads got delleeted it would have been proper to consult Ran before starting a thread of this nature. Bob you shoud try to contact him.

Anthony,
One more comment on self-immolation from you is not wanted. You got me once, never again. I advised you, on what I thought would be my last communication with you, and that was for you to get some advice on your exhibitionist behavior; it seemed as though it fell on deaf ears.

Well, I have seen that he has not been around the house for a few days now. Maybe after she supposedly beat his ass before he got in the car wreck, he decided it was in his best interest to slip away for a bit.
And Anthony, this has a good bit to do with golf architecture. After all, Tiger has started designing courses and regardless of what many have said, he's brought people to the game; without people to play the game, architecture doesn't exist in any form. Frankly, good or bad, he's responsible for a good amount of the growth in golf these last few years and a good bit of the new golfers coming into the game.
-
I'm not quite sure why I am chiming in on this; I'll probably reget it. But are we to understand that Tiger was seen in St. Barts, or was "Privacy" seen anchored there?
I'm no expert, but is it not possible that Byron Bell and his new bride are honeymooning on Privacy, courtesy of the Boss? Like I said, I'm no expert, but I could scarcely think of a more likely scenario.
-
John,
I see your point. On the first page we have threads taking about The Castle Course and bunkering at Wine Valley. They have photos of real live golf courses.
Since all the other Tiger threads got deleeted I think it shows a blatent disrespect to start one more. Ran should have been consulted.

Well, there are still a few up about Tiger and the situation in general. I think as long as they don't get out of hand, maybe we are ok.

Tiger got voted the PGA Tour's Player of the Year. I think he was the odds on favorite for either definition of player.

Let's see, exhibitionist behavior. What comes to mind?
Robin Williams, Steve Martin, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, ...
Now, admittedly Anthony may not play in their league, but the world would be a duller place if we treated all exhibitionist behavior with a shrink.
Just sayin....

I am very much okay with that. I also understand it if Ran has a different idea about message board hygiene.
The only thing that I might suggst to my fellow GCA members and friends is that I know of no better place on the Web to follow the Tiger news, than on Geoff Shackelford's website. He's doing a remarkable job. Geoff has said that his site's traffic has doubled. Or more. I am convinced that major news organizations and stringers who don't know much about golf (and golf writers who don't know much about tabloid journalism) but who need to report the story, are all flocking to Geoff's site.
That might be a beter place to view, and share, bona fide Tiger stories .
-
Geoff was on CNN today and did a fine job. He does have the best compilation and maybe the only real credible source web site in order to follow this complex and intracate subject. He is attracting a very thoughtful group of posters in the comments section of the news compilations.

Sir Boab, I always envied you for that golf freindship. But, I was wondering how Anthony's exhibitionism would stack up against that other pal of yours, Mr. Murray? Don't actually answer that, I was just wondering... ;) ::) ;D

Anthony, no I did not see that until now, that thread was actually at the top of the page when I left about 2 hours ago. Bummer.
-
These quotes come to mind.
Have you discussed this with Ran? If not, I suggest you do so.
..........just plain bad manners.
It should be obvious, if not blatantly obvious, by now, that _________ couldn't give one fig about protocal.
After several threads have been delleeted concerning Tiger and his where abouts recently this week It should be obvios that Ran does not want this foolishness. It doesn't make sense if we delleete threads about the first Heisman winner (also the first pic in the first profootball draft) and his passion for golf in Chicago than why is Tigers whereabouts worthy? Double standards in golf have taken a big hit the past couple of weeks. Are there gentelman left in the game. "BLANTENTLY OBVIOUS"
Anthony
.
-
My dear RJD,
There is an incredible difference. Bill Murray, Dean Martin, Steve Martin, Robin Williams and Jerry Lewis were and are, unbelievable talented human beings, with an intellect that would put them in MENSA. I am afraid to say that our Anthony Gray does not enter into that pantheon.
There is a vast difference between genius and narcissism, the latter, of which I am afraid, is Dr. Gray's Achilles heel.

I don't really know many people on the site other than seeing their name posted on the site and reading their comments and I am not up to speed 100% on the theme of this thread...
but am I to understand that Bob Huntley hung out with Dean Martin? Now that is cool!!!
Mr. Huntley, I don't know you...but I would like to. You, sir, seem to have lived a pretty wonderful life (at least from what I can gather).
Keep on keeping on!
-
Anthony, In the interests of civility is it possible to ask for a cease fire regarding this thread? Mr. Huntley has provided some information to our forum that many of us were curious about-the whereabouts of Mr. Woods. Nothing more or less. My sense is that you are trying to seek retribution for a perceived wrong on a previous thread. Bob has always been the consumate gentleman on this site. Many of us can vouch for his character both on and off the course. Consider this the Xmas cease fire similar to WWI ;)
Wish you well, Jack

Anthony, Is your direct question ,have I played golf together with Bob Huntley? Yes, I have had the pleasure of his company on 3 occasions. I was fortunate to have him as my playing partner at KP in 2008. For the record I am an avid golfer but certainly far from a good player,I'm about a 12 - on a good day. Bob on the other hand played to a 3 back in the day and competed in some notable matches. My idea of a good round is obviously the enjoyment of the vistas and the comaradarie of my playing companions. He is truly a fun man to share 4 hours with. Thru GCA I have played with a pretty eclectic group, Bob, Tom Huckaby, TEP, Wayne Morrison, John Mayhugh,Tim Bert, Kyle Krahenbuhl , Dave Miller, Chris Cupit, Ed Getka etc. 30 years from now I will always have great memories of the times spent with these guys. I guess the holidays always bring out my hope for: Peace on Earth and Goodwill to our fellow man.I hope this answered your questions of me. Wish you well, Jack

Jack,
Well stated and recieved. Sorry for responding late, but I just got back from the office. It is almst 12;00 and 39 degrees out. My self centeredness could not keep me from going in and helping someone in pain. Bob offered me advice a few days ago and I returned the same advice. He responded a little different to the same advice. You choose which one responded with class. Would love to play golf with you one day.. Help Bob with the plank in his eye since you are close friends.

Bob gets a pass. The man has done more for this DG and GCA (and the Game) than you'll ever know--or ever want to know.
If he thinks you're a narcissistic douche, you are.
Beat it.

My understanding from a friend is that the name is no longer on the boat.....and TW is on the boat.....you think he is hanging with his buddy that was getting married after he was the one getting the plane tickets for Uchitel......
I have a hunch the weekend will be interesting ;D ;D

A discussion group is like a bar, or a social club, or hell, a golf club where fine gentlemen assemble.
Bob is one of the finest gentlemen I know. There is a reason he is held in such high esteem.
You don't fit in well, hence your constant cries for attention and attention whore-ing.
You're the (annoying) member at the club that was admitted because you're a legacy, but no one wants them in their group because four hours with you is hell.
Please kindly piss off.
Thanks,
Jed
Edit: Bob's the guy at the club who, although VERY OLD and CRAPPY at the Game, even the best players in the club would GLADLY tee it up with him, and even play from his SENIOR tees.

I agree with you guys regarding Bob..not form meeting him...but form speaking with friends that have....BUT at the same time I think Anthony is being misunderstood by many on here.....
Just take a deep breath....he doesn't mean any harm.....he's a frigging dentist.....how many of you could look in a guys mouth all day and not be just a little out there.....and he's juiced....uses the same Canadian doctor as TW.....
So let's just play nice.... ;)

Trust me, none of this matters to Anthony, to whom it's always all about Anthony.

A thread about College football is going strong at 11 pages. My thread on college basketball gets delleted. And now Latitudes and Longitudes is on fire. You wrote "Would a white british colonial mary a black woman?"
I am not sure what you are implying. That I am a racist? Because you have married inter-racially worries me not one bit and I am happy for you in so doing. If you are hinting that I am a racist because I lived in a colonial society you are abysmally ignorant of anything that I have lived for or believed. Before you go off on these tangents I suggest you do some research and discover more about those you wish to belittle.
Whatever you do, please think long and hard before you try to demean me on this site. I am slow to anger and I am quite capable to be able to respond in kind.

Bob,
You refered to me as a narcicist. I believe you would find me to be more self effacing than narcicistic. Fat people are not lovers of there self image. If I were narcicistic I would not marry black weoman. Would you humble yourself enough to wear orange plus 4's. Or even more ..would you humble yourself to respond to one of my IM's. Or even acceppt or decline my offer to you and your bride for dinner at Fandango's. What these posters do not know is that you have refused to reply to my IM"s that have stated we have more in common than you allow yourself to see.

Anthony, time to seek professional advice. You prove your own point over and over and over.
You are the only one who ever talks about setting things on fire - here you go again:
"And now Latitudes and Longitudes is on fire."
I guees this is not lashing out.

Your lashing out is revealing.
Once again I am done with you, you have gone beyond redemption. Sad.

Anthony,
I have broken my promise to myself not to engage you in any dialogue whatsoever. However, here goes, I have no desire to meet you
at any time, anywhere.

Can someone tell me how an already off topic thread on TW's whereabouts even manages to go off off topic to the point where it appears to be about Anthony Gray and how many times he can post on one thread?

I am glad to see some one is finally sticking up for me. Please IM Bill McBride and tell him I want my hat back.

Anthony, if you think Neil is sticking up for you here, you have lost grip with reality which is why I am recommending professional counseling. This is not a joke, this is a reality wake up call.

Bill,
What you do not know is that Neil and I are tight. You mentioned on a previous deleeted thread (not authored by Bob) that men would be jealous of Tiger because of his "activities". I think that is what this thread is all about. The angry guys would love to be in St Barts now living the life. My wife is 23. Have you shot your age yet?

What ever happened to the days when a MAN stood by his words. Golf is a respected gentelmans game but thanks to this thread it shows how much golf has fallen. When the worlds most recognized golfer is in St Barts insted of trying to restore his marriage like the press releases say, does golf transend other sports? What happened to the days when a MAN was as good as his word? When your yes means yes and your no means no? When the advice you give to others you take for yourself? Wow has this game of gentelman been damaged. I miss Old Tom Morris.

Well, for what its worth, it hasn't been proven that Tiger is in St. Barts. And while I do think the information people have posted here may be correct, its not real proof; that is kind of why I made the first post that I made. And how do you know he's not working on his marriage down there? He might be seeing a counselor down there or at a rehab clinic, ever consider that?

John,
Again you have helped me see the light. I assumed he was having fun again. Maybe it is just my mentality to think a man of his age is having fun. I am sure he went there to be a better person, father and husband. I am just glad we are posting about this and not about a Heisman Trophy winner who plays off at scratch....Isn't this more fun to discuss?

Hey Anthony, allow me to give you a piece of advice, this from someone who had a thread of his that was quite relevant taken down off the board: get over it. Just stop worrying about it. It happened, they took your thread down, big deal.
As for Tiger, like I said, we don't really even know if he's there. And as far as Bob's friend goes, so he saw a yacht with the name Privacy pull into port, is Tiger's the only yacht in the world with that name that looks reasonably similar??
-
John,
I see your point. On the first page we have threads taking about The Castle Course and bunkering at Wine Valley. They have photos of real live golf courses.
Since all the other Tiger threads got deleeted I think it shows a blatent disrespect to start one more. Ran should have been consulted.
Dr Gray
Well, there are still a few up about Tiger and the situation in general. I think as long as they don't get out of hand, maybe we are ok.
Geoff does do a good job, but I think I'm doing a pretty good job on my site as well...

Jay,
I just read your updates re TW....
QUESTION?
Is anyone so ignorant as to need words when they see a phto of the doctor Galea? The photo sums it all up...you don't have TW network and money and go to Canada to find some dude....and he is a dude..... ;)
-
Back in the 80's didn't they call guys like this "Dr. Feelgood"?
Mike Young,
what style of loafer do you think the good Doctor wears?
-
Brent,
I guarantee it is an extremely thin sole Italian model.....would last a fat guy 4 hours on concrete ;D
-
Yeah and it would destroy this fat boy's high arches even sooner than that. Of course I'm sure Dr. G. has a little something for that, too. "Knee, foot, head...man this stuff's good for whatever you got".
-
Gents, if law enforcement jumped to as many conclusions as everyone seems to be doing about TW going further than blood spinning, or other tour players using HGH because this playboy MD has a trade in this stuff, we'd all be under indictment.
It is bad enough that there are innocent people who are sitting in jail because of zealous prosections, and investigators and prosecutors listening to public pressure or sensationalism rather than pursuing hard facts. All this speculation is simply destructive to the very sport and players that you otherwise want to follow as fans. Sure, demand accountability, and the press should ask Finchem the tough questions. But, I think this whole feeding frenzy needs to subside and retreat to sensible and objective investigation, not the sensationalism that is surrounding all these wild allegations.
For one thing, I'd ask what would the sense be in the suspicions of tour players taking steroids, HGH and such substances when wrongly bulked up muscle, or hightened nerves and reactions of steroids and HGH would most likely be a detriment to the caliber of tour golf where the margins of highest quality play are decimal points different in things like stroke averages and such.
People were laughing at Finchem's comment of things being counter-intuitive. But really.... ::)

The night the TW stuff first broke a few guys were saying we were making accusations for no reason and my comment then was...."there is much more to this".....
AND even now I still say the is much more to this entire thing than we know today.....it is sad and will get sadder.....so many guys have known what was going on and did not say (understandably) and now the lies just keep leading to more lies.....
People still can't accept the fact that John Daly is actually a better role model for your children than TW....
-
RJ,
I think this is all what would be considered "water cooler talk", in as much as that our opinions on Tiger don't carry any weight in his situation. We are not judge or jury...his fate doesn't rest in our hands, so I don't see how the speculation is harmful. Even if someone in an official capacity to investigate Tiger were peering in on us, it would be quickly dismissed as speculation, wouldn't it?
Joe
p.s. It's the Eastern seaboards turn for the weather.... :)

Mike, they do call him something like Dr. Feelgood, but I have a bad feeling about this.
I was in the senate hearing room for the Clemens hearing and I'm telling you all this feels like that did then. If Finchem doesn't start to take a harder stance on steroids and PEDs, it will not only define his Commissionership, but be an albatross around his neck.
Borther William, I luv ya, but listen to Adso on this one. I've made a point of studying steroids, PEDs, masking agents, and testing procedures. I lecture on the subject to the NYS Bar Association with Cameron Myler (the lawyer who reps players who get caught), and Dr Gary Wadler, the scourge of steroid cheats everywhere. It looks exactly the same as MLB. The Tour regimen is woefully inadequate and has significant holes in masking agents, testing and, most importantly, punishment and transparency.

Wait a minute..they let you in a senate hearing room???? holy shit....next thing I know you will be on Borat..... ;D
Finchem has waited too long....this thing has gained steam and ain't no rocks left to hide under....in all seriousness I hate it for golf....but those that knew on tour and elsewhere enabled it....they were all scared of how they would be treated if they went against the machine....and now what..... ???

I remember a few years back when a pal of mine who had represented his country at athletics told me the story about one of the top athletes getting caught for taking performance enhancing drugs. The problem for the authorities was that this athlete was one of three athletes who were all over the marketing literature/billboards etc for an upcoming major championship. Clearly the fallout would be colossal if it became known that one of the athletes promoting th egames was a cheat.
According to my pal, a deal was done where the athlete didn't get busted on the basis that they came no where in their event which was what happened. You could argue that it was all a coincidence and that the athlete had an off day but I'm assured that the story was going round the other athletes even before the event. And this was someone who was considered a red hot favourite. Now I suspect no-one could prove that story unless the athlete in question confessed however ever since I heard that story its made me look at things in a different light. The guys that run these organisations be it in athletics, golf or where ever, are marketing men who are there to make as much money for the machine as possible, there job isn't to up hold the values of the game or root out any bad apples. Especially if that bad apple is the poster boy for the sport.
Now as someone rightly said, Tiger hasn't been convicted yet, but if he is, I would bet serious money that a lot of people knew what was going on and that includes at the PGA.

Anthony,
It is time to back off. In the past, you have given us some laughs and that was great but your side of the exchange with Bob Huntley is way off base and is most upsetting and unnecessary, I am sure to Bob but also to many of us. Please just take a break. Thank you.
Bob Jenkins
-
What Bob said.
Anthony, in the past I would have agreed with Mike Young that "Anthony means no harm", but despite being one of your most strident defenders here and elsewhere, I think this thread may well have been you jumping the shark.
-
Anthony,
One more comment on self-immolation from you is not wanted. You got me once, never again. I advised you, on what I thought would be my last communication with you, and that was for you to get some advice on your exhibitionist behavior; it seemed as though it fell on deaf ears.
Bob
Let's see, exhibitionist behavior. What comes to mind?
Robin Williams, Steve Martin, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, ...
Now, admittedly Anthony may not play in their league, but the world would be a duller place if we treated all exhibitionist behavior with a shrink.
Just sayin....
Garland,
Dean Martin was a friend of mine and quite frankly was a very retiring sort of guy.
Bobl
As you can guess, I was just pulling names that I thought might be possibiliiies. I have heard several comics being profiled as the class clown seeking attention while in school, that turned out to be a good thing as they went on to big careers. Personally I cannot state for sure that any particular comic was that way. However, if my recollection serves me right, Robin Williams may have been one that way.
-
...
If he thinks you're a narcissistic douche, you are.
Beat it.
Jed
Jed,
I have only been on here a year so I missed all of his threads vwith the course photos. I think he should take his own advice if he is capable.
Anthony
Anthony.
Enphasis added.
Jed,
Is this really how you defend a gentleman?

Classic humor is based on the surprise. The humorist leads you down the garden path, gets you thinking one thing, and then springs something on you. Often times, you have to think a little before, the truth behind the surprise dons on you and you can have your chuckle.
I am not claiming to be a great humorist, but I know for a fact that some of the humorous things I post (or at least what I thought were humourous) are lost by the readers that through divided interest or no interest in paying attention to what I post, did not understand the meaning behind the post. They saw it as odd, and ignored it.
Because this site divides our attention so much, this site makes it difficult for much humor to get across properly. The most obvious case in point is the "I set myself on fire" post. Those that have read fairly regularly what Anthony posts have seen [bold]way[/bold] too much of the skin on his body. Therefore, when he posts "I set myself on fire", it's surprise, moment of though, chuckle, couldn't possibly be so. Anthony knows many have seen the pictures, so he knows how to set up the surprise for the "punch line". I am sure he did not write it to make people pity him, as that perhaps was an unfortunate consequence. Anthony is not the only one that engages in shocking suprises in his posts. Tom Paul does it regularly, and a lot of it is misunderstood. I am sure if anyone were to ask him, Tom would readily tell them that he knows much of his humor goes misunderstood.
Therefore, I would suggest that if you don't understand something that appears odd, either seek out the meaning, or just ignore it and move on. Don't proceed by adopting a dismisive attitude towards the poster.
If you have gotten this far with my post, I thank you for your attention.
-
Gentlemen, well if that is the right way to address one or two of you here on GCA.com.
I fear that the discussion disintegrates when we drop to base levels. Whatever your position in this matter, I fear that we need to inject a little tolerance into the proceedings, after all are we not golfers.
Bob and Anthony add a great deal to this web site in their own ways, if there is a problem between them, we must leave it to their own devices to resolve the matter (hopefully via courteous means using e-mails or IM).
We are pouring fuel on to a delicate situation creating potential trenched demarcation lines while exasperating the situation IMHO.
I hope that without our input this matter can be fasts and quickly resolved in an amicably fashion.
Let’s not forget that Anthony rides carts, so if I can reach out to him with the hand of friendship there must be hope that this matter can be quickly resolved.

Gentelmen...I am backing off. I called Ran a few days ago. He does want the DG to be mostly about architrecture. So I have started no OT threads since that time and will not in the future.
My comments on this thread should have provoked thought but insted provoked anger.
In November I started a controverial thread "Get to Khow John Kavanaugh". Bob Huntley suggested that I should have consulted Ran first. A couple days ago Bob Huntley started a thread THIS ONE about Tiger's whereabouts. All other threads about Tiger have been delleeted and after talking to Ran the other day he does not want theses Tiger threads,so I gave Bob the same advice he gave me. The posters have had different responses to the same advice. There is a 800 pound gorilla in the room and his name is DOUBLE STANDARD.
Jed Peters. Have we met? Where you at the KP? I agree that there are places were we all do not fit in. I have never been to a NAMBLA conferance and I don't have a Darth Vader costume.
Some have mentioned contributions the the DG. In the past 6 months How many threads have Bob Huntley or Bill McBride started about architecture? How many have I started about architecture? How many photos have Bob or Bill posted of golf courses? They have contributed in many other ways but this is about GOLF COURSE ARCHITECTURE.
Last week (before speeking to Ran) I started a thread about Golf and College Basketball. It got deleeted. THe thread on Golf and College Football is on its 11th page. Again be blind to the Gorilla.
A thread about Jay Berwanger a passionate Chicago golfer who won the first Heisman Trophy in 1935 was delleeted. He golfed almost every day of his late life and with all the Chicago guys on here I thought some would have known him. I regret I did not seize the opertunity when I had it. That thread also mention that a Heisman winner was married at Peeble Beach and the 08 winner goes off at scratch. That has more to do with golf than this thread.
In the future I will not start OT threads. When I mow the famous courses I will keep that only between my three best friends. Garlad, kalen and Bill McBride. If Bob Huntely offers me advice I will not offer him the same advice back. I have many more photos that I look foward to posting and I hope they will be a positive contribution to the site. Remember when Nixon said to the press "you won't have Richard Nixon to push around enymore"? That was kind of crazy but fuuny too.
All the best.....Will have photos of No 8 at Chambers Bay up on Monday,

Anthony and Melvyn-
Quite frankly you two are the worst parts of Golf Club Atlas personified. If you two remain on the site I believe it will lead to the inevitable demise of this once great site. People like you two come on here and get your rocks off by pissing everyone off (as evidenced by Bob Huntley's comments above), and are the reason why so many of the great posters who helped build this site with their contributions have either left or stopped posting. News flash: the reason the board is filled with OT threads is that the there are few left here that either are knowledgeable enough to start a decent GCA thread, or those that are here don't feel like posting it because they know it will either a) get bumped quickly to the third page by your bullshit/show-off threads, or b) it will go over the heads of most and won't generate any reasonable discussion.
Anthony, while with over 3000 posts in a year and a half, you have contributed next to nothing to this site in terms of actual thought stimulation. I have no doubt that you are truly "harmless" in real life, which makes your comments on here more revealing than you know, nevertheless your comments and actions have helped diminish this site's average IQ and relevancy by half. You should of been kicked off of this board a long time ago.
Melvyn, everyone knows I can't stand you and I have nothing nice to say to you or about you, but you are the most predictable and boring poster here. Your constant holier-than-thou commentary and "told you so" attitude makes you a complete joke.
As long as this is allowed to go on I fear that we've already seen the best days of the GCA.com discussion board. :-\

There is never a way forward or a way to settle anything with you, your hatred is so great that it must be eating you up from inside. No matter how many times peace is offered you still come back with this unbelievable hatred.
I feel so sorry for you, but what is perhaps more sickening is that very few on GCA.com seem to condemn you for your nastiness. That is what is wrong on this site, the weakness of the ‘sit on the fence Members’ who seem ready to condemn post which they have either not read correctly or jumped in feet first without reading the previous posts. They let you dribble out you spite with impunity, yet what have you actually added to this site since.
This is a discussion group, where we each add our thoughts and opinions. Some are liked, some are disliked, many fall by the way side and some develop much further, yet your agenda seems to be the removable of those you have decided to dislike.
I have mentioned on here that I will leave if enough ask me to leave. I am willing to leave on the basis of my topics and comments, I am not willing to leave because you and others do not agree with the right for all to share or practice the right to freedoms of speech, which by the way my ancestors won well before your country came into existence.
Discussion groups are there to voice opinions, whether you like the subject, are content with it, in agreement or not. It’s part of our fundamental rights and you with others on this site want to strip some of us of that right because you do not like what or worst still in the way YOU THINK WE ARE SAYING IT.
You have a right to you opinions whatever they maybe but to try and remove others for voicing theirs is a blood disgrace. Sitting on the fence on this one is a vote for censorship and the dismantling of our basic rights.
Get together a vote or ask Ben or Ran to remove me, I will go.
Melvyn
PS Like a TV there is an on/off button, but I expect that is just to complicated for some to understand, plus you have to make the effort to press the button.
-
Melvyn, you're not going anywhere, thank you. And the "weakness of sit on the fence members" may in some cases be better described as a "conviction to be above pettiness" ;-)

I hate these type of threads, I have posted on one only once and I regret doing so.
But I cannot let Ulrich's post go without commenting. He is exactly right. I, and I am sure the vast majority of others who remain quiet, are doing so to stay above the fray. The only way these type of threads exist is that at least 2 people keep them going. If you truly want them to stop, then DON'T POST.
-
I just got back from playing golf, so I haven't had time to read this post in its entirety.
But I saw someone say that Melvyn is the worst part of GCA. I couldn't disagree with that more. He pisses people off sometimes with his comments. But if you take some of this comments with the tone of what might be said having a beer at the 19th hole in a busting balls type of way, it is less inflammatory. But sometimes his opinions are diametrically opposed to other peoples and feelings will be hurt. Hey...it happens on a discussion board.
But Melvyn has been instrumental in my golf learning and if people cut to the core of his comments and listen to what he says...quite often he is correct and very insightful.
Concerning Anthony...I think he is funny and has started some great threads. Perhaps he went over the top on this thread...but again stuff happens on a discussion board. He said he was backing off. I trust he will.

the boat left under darkness two nights ago.....he had to know someone would have a GPS on it....just keep watching...it should get interesting....
Skipping all but 2 or 3 of the 127 foregoing replies...
I have just read that "Privacy" was still docked in Palm Beach until Saturday, Dec. 19 [well after this thread was started], and that Tiger apparently "left with some golfing buddies" at that time.
So what was the genesis of this entire topic? Not looking for an argument; I was just trying to understand the nature of, and basis for, the cryptic title and the subsequent speculation.
Oh, and forgive me if I didn't read all however-many pages of this, and I am woefully late to the party, but those coordinates are in the middle of the Arabian Sea, right? Not St. Barts or St. Barths or whatever... right? Or am I that bad at using a new Mapquest feature for the first time...?
-
Chuck: there really was no purpose, thats kind of what I hinted at when this topic was first posted. And fairly well without basis, this topic is, as well. But 62.5W would be somewhere in the Caribbean, longitudes run east and west from Greenwich. And the Caribbean is west of there. 62.5 East, though probably would be in Arabia somewhere.

Ooops. Like I said, first-time user of Mapquest's Latitude/Longitude finder.
"-62.50" = W, "62.50" = E. Only a hemisphere away.
Good thing I'm not in charge of the next space shuttle, or directions across town.
So, I am presuming that if we are to believe the cryptic topic title to be both true and relevant to anything, the OP somehow got info that "Privacy" was probably advance-cleared into the port of Gustavia in the Caribbean. (I remember that the newlywed Mr. and Mrs. Woods were stopped briefly on their honeymoon when they were cruising on Privacy and had failed to make provision for an advanced clearance into a Caribbean port.) And that right now, that is where the boat is heading?
-
Chuck, at this moment, I don't believe much of anything posted in this thread. You make your own decision.
-
John/Chuck
This is what happens when you fit GPS systems to carts. One is bad enough but mix them and you find you are either located in your golf bag or are looking for someone in the middle of the sea.
I keep telling you guys these things are not necessary to play the game of golf and from what you have said John they seem rather unreliably useless too.
Have a nice day and trust your car Sat Nav is more reliable other wise the sea may tarnish your feet, John ;)
Melvyn
PS Thanks John about not believing anything, however I believe Pat is rather serious in his dislike for me, so I think you should believe that if nothing else.
-
Just out of curiosity, where did Bob say "Privacy" was there?
-
You're not going to get any privacy in St. Barts. The island is totally built out. It's wall-to-wall people. I was there about a year ago (after a 10 year hiatus) and I couldn't believe how much it had changed. It's no longer a sleepy, laid-back French island. There were 100 foot mega-yachts stacked up all along the main dock area of Gustavia. The place sucks now. No way anyone would go there if they were trying to escape prying eyes unless they holed up in a villa and never saw the light of day...
-
JKM.
"And where is this information coming from?"
Bob
Jim: Thats when Bob said it was there. Or at least strongly implied it.
-
John, that's where Bob implied a friend in one of the other boats called and said Tiger is in St. Bart's.
-
Chuck, at this moment, I don't believe much of anything posted in this thread. You make your own decision.
My strong advice is to definitely not believe anything that I have written.
-
Two things.....
I bet the boat was not in Palm Beach on Sat and I also bet that "Privacy" is no longer on the boat..... ;)

Gentlemen
I do not doubt that Anthony has made some errors, which his posts have tried to inject some humour. He is not alone is making mistakes or upsetting others, but then I see NO ONE on GCA.com being that pure that they have to right to judge others.
Get real this is a discussion group that many are proud to belong to (apparently) yet hardly ever post a comment let alone a topic. Anthony and I for all our faults do try in our own way. What do the silent majority do, keep clear of the fray, but it’s a discussion group is that not the reason you joined it in the first place.
Yes, some subjects should not have been posted, some little thought would have helped, but then has John post added to the quality of this topic or has it just added more petrol to the fire. Double standards are very much a part of this site today and has been for a while, you have shown it in your post above, so has Andrew when he agreed with you. You said about Anthony “but your relentless posting is a cancer that permeates every thread.” However, you make no comment about the post made by Pat Craig post #121 and his open hostility, not one single word from either of you. Practice what you preach seems a reasonable suggestion.
Tolerance on this site is disgraceful and many should be bloody ashamed of themselves. Look to ourselves as to what is wrong, look to those who seek others thrown off because they do not agree with their point of view, how many of you have the BALLS to say that this is wrong, lets me remind you very, very few.
Accuse me of elitism, and all the other names you seem to love to throw at me but that poison is more suitably redirected back at those who show no tolerance for others.
Anthony I believe was wrong, it was not his best performance, but then how many of you are so perfect that they do not misjudge things?
Anthony is I believe trying to put it behind him, he has made a statement, if Bill & Bob are still unhappy let them contact Anthony. I am certain peace and harmony will be resumed between the upset parties. There is no need for some of us the try and stick in the knife again, unless I have totally misjudged the Members of this site and they are still seeking the proverbial pound of flesh which does smack of double standards and kicking some when they are already down and at Christmas time as well.
Clearly many Gentlemen no longer play the great game of Golf or seem to be Members of GCA.com, yet I am certain that Bob & Bill are and will honourably clear the air with Anthony.

I broke my bat on Johnny's head;
Somebody snitched on me.
I hid a frog in sister's bed;
Somebody snitched on me.
I spilled some ink on Mommy's rug;
I made Tommy eat a bug;
Bought some gum with a penny slug;
Somebody snitched on me.
Oh, I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas
Mommy and Daddy are mad.
I'm getting nuttin' for Christmas
'Cause I ain't been nuttin' but bad.
I put a tack on teacher's chair
Somebody snitched on me.
I tied a knot in Susie's hair
Somebody snitched on me.
I did a dance on Mommy's plants
Climbed a tree and tore my pants
Filled the sugar bowl with ants
Somebody snitched on me.
So, I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas
Mommy and Daddy are mad.
I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas
'Cause I ain't been nuttin' but bad.
I won't be seeing Santa Claus;
Somebody snitched on me.
He won't come visit me because
Somebody snitched on me.
Next year I'll be going straight;
Next year I'll be good, just wait
I'd start now, but it's too late;
Somebody snitched on me.
So you better be good whatever you do
'Cause if you're bad, I'm warning you,
You'll get nuttin' for Christmas.

Melvyn,
I have actually stood up for you before (see the "Doak build a 10 on the moon thread" for one example).
I might be inclined to do that more often, but you take offense at so much it hardly merits me posting an opinion every time. Go back and count up how many times you've threatened to leave GCA or implied as much. Add that to mentions about Ran removing you. It is hard to take that kind of stuff seriously.
Spare me the platitudes on tolerance. You're every bit as intolerant as I am. It's just that different things matter to you.

Melvyn-
Anthony may of acted like an asshole, but you "Sir" are the whole ass.
Guess what genius: John didn't mention my "hostile" post because he, in some general sense, agrees with me. As do many others who used to post on this board before you and Anthony began to pollute this board with your crap.
Would you really like to talk about adding "petrol" to the fire? How about every one of your totally hostile and repetitive threads on walking, yardage markers, Tiger Woods, and your family tree?
You're right that I am angry. I'm angry that nearly every once great poster and source of information on GCA.com has left for greener pastures due to yours and others lack of any sort of a brain. How can anyone blame them? How is Anthony's posting of another self serving "Grey Scale" thread with his two lame-o buddies in cahoots posting responses going to redeem the fact that he acted like a giant douche in 3267 of his 3459 posts.
I propose Ran starts an OT section of the website devoted to off topic and general discussion, then a password protected section for your bullshit.
But then again, nothing will happen of you. A year from now you'll still be posting threads on Tiger's behavior, how cart path's on Donald Trump's new course in Scotland are ruining the game of golf, and how no one really plays "golf" because we don't always walk and may use a yardage marker or two. As I've said before, every Village needs an idiot. But three, four, or five is pushing it.

Looks like every bit of true accomplishment in your family left was with your Uncle.
Once again you sure like to hide behind others accomplishments. Which raises the question: what have you done? Have you accomplished anything in your own life? Or is yours one of your constant and hopeless crusaide against carts, Tiger Woods, and yardage markers on an online golf discussion board?

I am not leaving, I will not be driven out. As I can’t walk far I can’t play golf, nor will I use a cart as it is not golf playing golf, so do you think I will be driven from GCA.com.
As far as Ran and others, I have and am trying to act in an honourable way by that I mean if they do not want me then I will leave due to a majority vote going against me or by the owner asking for my departure. Yes, I keep repeating it due to the comments of some who want me out, who do not seem to agree with freedom of speech or majority rule, but that's their problem.
John I have never claimed to be whiter than the driven snow, I am just an ordinary guy prone to the joys and disappointments of life, with perhaps just one minor addition, Mr P Craig.

It seems there are some people on here who in my opinion do not show much respect for others. It is common for there to be those who like to hear themselves talk without much regard for what they say. This site has shown the resilancy to be bigger than a few posters who possess these undesirable qualities. I guess some recent posts over the last few months have moved me the wrong way more than most due to the wonderful people who seem to be treated without anything resembing proper respect. I hope yet again GCA rises above this poor behavier. We are very fortunate to have attracted some outstanding people. Lets hope that good taste rules the day again. Oh by the by my post has nothing to do with Tiger Woods or the humor in Bobs post. Seasons Greetings to all.

Your pledge not to start OT threads is interesting, but that's not really the issue. The biggest problem I see with your posting is that the original topic can be architecture, but you don't usually post about architecture. You post about "MOM" or what someone was wearing or some other attempt at humor. People who don't want to read the OT threads can just skip them, but your relentless posting is a cancer that permeates every thread.
One thing I will give you credit for - and it's a dubious honor - is that you've managed to alienate both Bob Huntley & Bill McBride. These are two of the nicest guys on GCA. Both are generous, thoughtful, and have contributed more to the group than you or I ever likely will. Yet you denigrate their participation by saying they haven't recently started architecture threads and that they don't post photos. Keep in mind that both gentlemen have been on the site for much longer than you have and actually add something to many discussions. Whether they start a new thread is hardly relevant. As to posting photos, it's all about you, isn't it? You like to see the pretty photos, so if they don't post any then they aren't satisfying your definition of participation. You have posted a couple of great threads (the tour of St. Andrews & Aiken) along with some good golf course photos. But you've probably posted just as many inane ones of "MOM" or yourself. So don't pat yourself on the back too much. Your batting average isn't that high.
I haven't been near GCA.com for a few days and I don't usually get involved in these threads but having read this one I must say that I agree with every word that John Mayhugh posted above.

Anthony,
This is the first time GCA has brought a tear to my eye....... >:(

After 5 pages of scanning, I was hoping for 1 cellphone pix or flip video link either confirming or denying the alleged sighting......nothing materialized.......very disappointing.

But Bruce; I learned how to properly use Google Maps' latitude & longitude finder! Personally, I count that as a major plus. On balance, a successful thread for me.

Withdrawn. Merry Christmas.

Have no fear after days of searching adjusting the Satellite to the real co-ordinates I have come across that which some have been seeking on this topic.
Tigers boat has been found and it is safe, perhaps a little Spartan now and slightly washed out, although I suppose it is because his sponsors have removed all their toys and finishes, as he no longer carries their name.

The boat is high and dry on the mud, which some might say is how Tiger feel now but I say his private life is only open if he gets well paid to sponsor products, otherwise we should all leave well alone. Sorry what that, he still has sponsors, then he is still open to scrutiny.
Therefore, Bruce, your search is at an end, a picture is posted, the topic now makes sense and reputations are still in shatters after all that.

Geoff Shackelford located the heretofore-unknown-to-me website "Gossip Cop" which, I gather, specializes in fact-checking the gossip tabloids. (Something akin to mopping up, with a single bucket, underneath Niagara Falls, methinks.)
So, here's Gossip Cop on the 'Tiger flees to Carribbean map coordinates' story:
