I started this topic the other day when the site was wacky. It seems to have disappeared .
Isn't this an opportunity for us to get together with visiting gca cohorts?
-
Why not? Dinners, golf come to mind.
-
Absoutely.
If anybody's interested, I'm sure I could whip up something at my place - maybe even get a speaker (no, not Gil - our world-class head greenkeeper to discuss how he rescued a 4 year old course and turned it around)
-
Speaking of Philly guys gathering for golf, please see my attachment from an earlier post for my overnight Father-Son golf tournament on Father's Day weekend in South Jersey.
Please see the attached document...
Also, I'm in for golf near the time of the Walker Cup.
Thanks,
Chris

I'd love to meet up/dinner/drinks/golf...whatever.
I will be volunteering as a marshal at the Walker Cup.
Will post my course assignment once I learn more.
...just hope i'm not a marshal of parking lot traffic at haverford college.

Mayday,
With the Walker Cup and Crump Cup on successive weekends I just finished ticketing myself to Philadelphia, arriving late Thursday. Count me into your plans. Golf would be a bonus.

8) ;) :)
Hey guys the shore is wide open. Galloway is real nice , but expensive. Twisted Dune and Greate Bay ( Park 1923 with revisions) are cheap and fun. I'm available to help organize a trip east , just an hour + or - froom Philly.
-
Archie,
I'm interested in seeing Twisted Dune when I come up for the Walker Cup.
Mike,
It sounds like there is plenty of interest in getting together, count me in.

And, Sugar Hill in Mays Landing has good sandwiches.

I'm up for whatever everyone wants to do, but I believe Tom Paul suggested today that we should all pace off the dimensions of the "Triangle" up in the north corner of the Merion course and probably say howdy to the neighbors while we're up there. ;)
I'm hoping that we don't slow tournament play too badly, but hopefully most matches will have concluded before the 15th hole anyway. ;D

Why just limit it to the triangle? Hell, we all know the 18th hasn't been measured correctly since the beginning of time. ;) :)

Oh HORSESHIT, Cirba! You can all come over here to the barn/office. I'll get a bathtub of bourbon and a gross of Mother UZ's potato chips and we can all get wide and real smart. Hell, I'll even let that brainfart David Moriaty come and after about a regiment of drinks we can put him on the Kubota and send him out in the field so he can show us how to design a real Macdonald/Wilson MERION "ALPS" hole!

bumped with the announcement of the American team.
-
Playing Twisted Dune with Archie would be a super day.
-
I'm up for a round anywhere.
-
Bump, and when will most of you be attending?
Also, the Crump is the following weekend at PV.
-
I am going to try and come up. Inniscrone was very nice and very reasonably priced. I believe there was an offer to host at White Manor.
-
I will be there on Saturday afternoon and Sunday. I am going to try and play golf on Saturday morning somewhere...
Staying at the Marriott downtown Philly.
Driving up from DC on Friday night and home on Sunday night.

When is the Crump Cup? Time, date. I did it one year but forget the details. Thanks. I plan on taking at least one of my kids on Sunday to the Walker Cup and follow up with the Crump. He is starting to get into golf and I thought this would be a real eye opener for him.
Kelly,
Crump Cup date for spectators is Sunday Sept 20th. Gates will open around 1pm.
-
I've been very interested in going to both the Walker Cup and PV for the Crump... I'm always down to tee it up! count me in

Mike,
I am up for that if the timing works. I'll only be coming up for one day of the Walker Cup.
-
Anything happening Friday nite? The Mets are in town.

If you are asking something like is anything happening, as in 'will the game be close', well, no. The Phillies have petitioned Bud Selig for the night off and to have the AA Reading Phillies to come into town to play the Mutts. Huh-huh. ;) :)
If some folks would like an in depth tour of Cobb's Creek on Friday, I'd be more than happy to make that happen. And I could probably make some decent cheap eats follow as well.
But if one of my private club friends wants to step up to the plate, please go for it!
Joe

Anyone interested in playing Twisted Dunes early Saturday? I'll play anywhere basically. Unless I somehow manage to get those rancid crab cakes into the Merion kitchen and end up playing as the 37th reserve ;D
-
I am planning on flying to Philly, just to see Merion for one or two days. Anybody have any suggestions for me?
-
Our member/member is Sat. and Sun. But, I could be available before those days if someone would like to experience Rolling Green.
-
Any GCA'er or friend is welcome to play out at my place - a wonderful Hanse course... Send me a PM if you're interested.
If you haven't seen a Flynn course, be sure to talk with Mike Malone. RG is one helluva golf course. It'd be number 1 in most cities in the USA.
