Title: A Lloyd Cole kind of Christmas
Post by: ward peyronnin on December 15, 2006, 11:37:24 AM
An earlier thread re christmas presents got me thinking we have a top 15 artist in the treehouse.

I have recently become familiar with Lloyd's stuff and it is quality. Why not package his cd with Alice Kooper or other artisti on the Golf Digest top 1oo golfing musicians for a golfer's medly gift set?

Brad Klein Is it too late for Golfweek to push this idea in next weeks issue?

Merry Seasons Greetings

Surely Kenny G as well. What would Lloyd think about that?

We have most of the ingredients, including an entertainment lawyer in Jay to help protect the copywrite or whatever they do...  ;)

What ever happened to that old rocker that used to post here that played alot at NGLA and used to park an old rusty jalopy in the lot there?  I don't know my rock bands too well, but wasn't he somehow connected with the Ramones?

Of course this would be an eclectic album with Mark Rowlison singing spriritual hymns, and Tommy playing classical finger style guitar.  Adam can sing the draedel song, and Hammy can do a reading from Scrooge , humbug ...  or, maybe save that one for me... ;) ;D ::)

Lloyd Cole's current CD "Antidepressant" got a very complimentary review in the December 3 San Francisco Chronicle.

Go to www.sfgate.com and do a search for Lloyd Cole to find it.

If it somehow resulted in Kenny covering one of Lloyd's songs on his next million-selling release, he'd probably not be displeased.   ;)

KC, it takes a rock trivia thread to get you to chme in? ;D :o 8)

Well, you are the man.  Who was that guy that used to post, and knew so much about the Ramones?  Or, was he one of the members of that band?  I don't know about all that stuff.  But, his golf posts were always entertaining.  So were yours, but all too rare! :o :-\  You ought to at least do a Dixie Cup next year! 8)

I'd like to thank Ward P for permanently scarring my brain with an image of Lloyd as Bing Crosby.

L,
can you now please arrange, post haste, for a photo-shoot of your good self in dubious xmas pullover, sporting a fine meerschaum and gazing/singing adoringly in the general direction of a group of small, 1950s-bedecked children. Thanking you in advance of a properly traditional xmas,
yours,
the FBD.

Rattlesnakes used to be one of my favorite albums, although I have not listened to it for many years. I think another member of the band is a golf journalist - for the Guardian or the Observer.

Jack, Laurence Donegan was bass player and is now the golf correspondent of The Guardian.

Discovered this at the weekend. A youthful Lloyd Cole singing one of my favourite songs. Hope you enjoy.
