Please express your feelings for Tobacco Road in the ancient Haiku form..
-
Strantz Polarizes
Raters, players and public
More times for Kyle
-
He say don't go play
Road is a waste of a day
Yes, he is Crusty
-
I really enjoy TR. It is a fun place to play. One's first round there can be difficult (I was lucky enough to play it with someone who knew the course my first time around), but could you not say the same about Cruden Bay, The Old Course, NGLA, and frankly lots of other great courses?
The course is loaded with strategy, which is why the people who love it, LOVE IT. The course is short on "framed holes", "shot values" (whatever that is), and perceived "fairness". This would explain why many GD rates would not enjoy it. In my opinion, it is one of the 3 or 4 places I would most want to play in the Pinehurst area.
TS
(not talented enough to compose Haiku)

He say don't go play
Road is a waste of a day
Yes, he is Crusty
Mad John Kavanaugh
That is quite hysterical
See, you made us laugh! ;D
-
Exhilirating
Golf as a pure, fun, challenge
Can't wait to go back
-
Where's the f#@$&ing green?
I have no idea. Can you
Check the yardage book?
-
For Ted S:
GD says 23
In state of NC - not bad
GM is the culprit
Now another:
Low course rating, high slope
Very tough to call much fun
But many do defend it
-
Stantz is Good Mad.
Jaka is Bad Mad.
Go play The Road and be Good Mad.
-
Sixth green, where's the ball
In the cup, one swing, free drinks
Then home 'til next year
-
Great Architecture?
Maybe yes or maybe not
Still - great fun to play
-
No love for the Road
Which is more underrated?
For me, Lawsonia
-
Laughing out loud
Playing always easier than it looks
Cool golf
-
Invigoration!
My golf dreams have come to life
Will you marry me?
Genius thread...best Michael Moore post ever!
-
Invigoration!
My golf dreams have come to life
Will you marry me?
This one is the clubhouse leader...
-
No way man, thanks for the props, but Michael Moore's is so good, I wanna license it for a bumpper sticker and t-shirts.
"Where's the f&%$ing green?" could be a catchphrase!
-
Sorry, had to add this...
Mucci rebuke soon?
I haiku'd Tobacco Road
Without having played
-
What, Tobacco Road
Haiku, where do you come up
with this awful crap
Haiku is an art form invented to give dumb elementary school teachers something to teach. I hate everything about it.
(But I did like Michael Moore's)
-
Credit wrongly gave
This morning Kyle started
On some other thread
;)

Haiku is an art form invented to give dumb elementary school teachers something to teach. I hate everything about it.
Form can be freeing
Includes the freedom to suck
Moore flowers in midst
-
I've never played it
It's near top of my wish list
Hope it ranks a 10
-
The course starts off poor
Gets bogged down in the middle
Then finishes worse
-
Par 5 strategies
They are very redundant
Many wedge par 3's
-
Tee off 17
Leave my bag or not, back track
Tee off the 18th
-
In rocky rough
their serpent thirst slakes,
M R snakes!
-
JK, Here's an Irish Haiku, especially for you. ::)
There once lived an archie named Strantz,
'Paved' the Road when offered the chance,
Some are glad that he chose it
while others say "Doze it",
I'm just happy it isn't in France.
-
John,
This is all wrong, all wrong.
This isn't Haiku Tuesdays..... (One of my all-time favorite posts!)
-
Ahhh Haiku Tuesdays
Sentimentally recall
rosy days long passed :'(
-
Whimsical golf course
Strantz and Fezler together
Strantz left too early
-
Never played the course
I guess John doesn't like it
Sounds like a critic
-
Tim Bert is right on
What's next? Kavanaugh rating?!
I bet he wants comps. ;)
-
Great Thread! ???
-
Crusty's nether world
Micheal's intredpid next world
Both heaven and hell
I've got one on Nantucket I'll be sharing later.
-
Have yet to play it
Is it better than Pinehurst
1, 4, 7, & 8?
-
Nantucket, how good?
Picturesque old isle of wind
Rees Jones really blows
-
Opinion of TR?
1 + 4 + 7 + 8
Still not the equal
-
Folks crazy over this Road
Now I'll make more more folks more crazy. Because
Sandpines is still rated higher
-
The apparition of these faces in the crowd;
Petals on a wet, black bough.
-
Ah, Tobacco Road.
Some say it's close to perfect.
But it's far from me.
:(
-
For raters,
The Road less travelled.
Strantz made all the difference.
-
Strantz the late Artist
Fashioned the Road to prompt our
Different opinions
-
Jordan won't get it
Number of syllables wrong
Try it again, son
-
Jordan may be wrong
but what is Goodale doing
quoting Ezra Pound?
-
I will do it right
But you know the real truth
Kyle is Jealous
;D ;D ;D
-
Jordan may be wrong
but what is Goodale doing
quoting Ezra Pound?
Like the 16-year cicada
Pound knew no rules.
Function trumps form--always
-
Jordan was confused
I guess they no longer teach
Haiku in high school
-
Yes I know how to
Write a decent Haiku and
Kyle's still jealous
-
Jordan.
Haiku starts with five
Flows smoothly into seven
Retreats back to five
-
The Magazines rate Tobacco Road
Like a dead Toad
Nowhere in Sight
Like it was Architecture Light
But if the truth be told
The Architect is Bold
And rather than pale
It is off the scale
So give it a cheer
so everyone can hear
It's a course that everyone should hold dear
-
Yeah Cary!
Mike and Heidi Strantz
Dana and andrea too
Nicest family
Tobacco road rules
fire up the big lear jet
next up, black mesa!
Viva eddie peck
spann visited tobacco
now we have two gems!
