Just a random question. Look at your computer screen. Do you have a golf picture as your background? If so, what hole?
Mine was #14 at The Rim in Arizona. I just changed it to #11 at Sand Hills.
-
The 15th at Friar's Head which I took one beautiful night. You can't see the hole all that good, but the sunset was unbelievable. (For my eye at least)
-
Aidan Bradley’s (please let me have spelllllled it correctly(thanks andy ;))) 17th at County Sligo. Lovely photo of a great, great, hole in an all world location. I had Ran's version on previously and it has inspired more than one daydream.
About a year ago I attended the funeral of a lady who had married into our family. She was one of the most beautiful people I am ever likely to meet. Imagine the emotions when the priest announced she wanted her ashes spread on the beach at Roses Point.

The approach to the 6th green at Newcastle GC.
-
A picture taken from behind the 13th green at North Berwick - looking back down the 13th fairway and the beach.
-
The 6th at Royal Dornoch.
-
currently its a dusk shot of the 9th green at St. Andrew's Beach.
-
16th at Bandon, which I finally birdied after 8 rounds.
-
13th at the CC of Waterbury, where I learned to play 1928 Ross. From their web site.
-
I have a picture of Bandon trails that I think came from the account of Jim Dugger's trip there.
-
(Tony, it's 'Aidan' ;))
-
#4 at Royal County Down with clouds resting on the mountains--shot in August by a member of my golf trip.
-
An aerial of Pine Valley. I'll sometimes switch it with an aerial of Bay Hill.
-
A picture from Mr. Naccarato's recent post of shots from North Berwick. The 16th, I believe.........
-
Mine is also one of Tommy's recent North Berwick shots - the Pit #13, from the far left angle where you can see the beach, the big dune left, and the wall. Great hole, great photo.
-
I have the old standby...the 16th At cypress from the California coastal commision. It really is a nice picture the 17th and the clubhouse in the background. It rotates between thisone and the 13th at rustic.
-
#17 at Bandon Trails
-
A pick of me knocking a hybrid onto the green at Pac Dunes #4.
The photographer called the photo "Three Sticks" which I suspect you will understand when you see it.

Work - Neil Regan's brilliant shot of the biarritz fifth hole at Fishers Island
Home- Paul Turner's equally brilliant shot of the opening tee shot and #1 at Sand Hills
-
At work: the 2nd green at Royal Dornoch.
At home: this view after walking off the second green
and over the hill where you see the course
layed out by the sea and you can't help but
to fall in love

At home, Neil Regan's shot of 17 and 18 at Sand Hills. It's been 'stuck' there for a couple of years now. Can't seem to change it.

I'm not sure who took this photo but I also have a picture of 17 and 18 at Sand hills. It's the one found on Ran's review.

I've always been partial to daydreaming about this virginal land that Dick Daley sent me a photo of:
Well, that and the occasional Anna Kournikova shot.
:)

Ballyneal #7 from Ran's review...

My 13 year old son at post impact of his second shot at the 16th of Sand Hills under the watchful eye of Sir Bob Huntley.

Tony...you managed to spell Aidan's name correctly...but missed on "Rosses Point". ;D
My background is the view from behind the 5th green at Machrihanish (hope I got that one right) from Ran's profile.
It is a bit blurry at full screen size...but still a great shot.
Cheers!

Eric,
is that Ted Robinson at the Marriott in Palm Desert or thereabouts?
-
(http://www.breckrothage.com/images/Golf/TR/719render_big.jpg)
And for those who haven't figured out how yet, all you have to do is left click on the picture above, then right click and choose 'set as background' ;D
-
In my office, I have a photo of Nicklaus waving farewell from the Swilcan Bridge during the 2005 Open Championship.
At home, I have one of the recent photos that Tommy Naccarato posted of North Berwick.

Isn't that photo the "Anti-GCA" poster. Let's see:
Waterfalls...check, Fountain...check, Railroad ties...check, Bunkers fronting the water hazard...check, Flowers on mound hiding cartpath...check. ;)
-
Eric it's pure Genius.
Jamie you missed my favorite feature on my real home course. Scroll over to the right edge and you can see a trimmed hedge to stop people getting too close to the water. ::)
-
#4 at Pac Dunes. Rotates with #17 at BTrails and #16 at BDunes.

Tony,
I missed that one. It is a nice touch, "safety first".
-
Eric,
is that Ted Robinson at the Marriott in Palm Desert or thereabouts?
And I thought it was Ted Robinson at Tustin Ranch (11th hole) in Tustin, CA.
-
It is in fact Tustin "Raunch."
I wish I could take credit for those North Berwick images, but they come from a friend(s) who I never realized was such an exceptional talent behind a Brownie. (Kodak camera. Old very old!)

here's mine

George,
I'm impressed you were able to get "virginal" and "Anna Kournikova" in the same post.
-
Tommy's Rainbow over North Berwick.
Thanks for posting it, Tommy, and congrats to the author.
I gotta get my ass over there again soon. It's been too long.
-
This makes me sooooooo mad that I dont have a picture.
My one at school is the best ever!!!!!
It is a picture of Augusta #12 and on the top, instead of trees, are three pictures of Paula Creamer.
Pretty in pink!
Pretty in black!
Pretty damn good looking!!!!!
;D
-
Mine is a side/overhead pic of the northern most holes at Shoreacres.
-
#3 at Bucknell GC, my home course.
-
My desktop doesn't have any pictures but my screensaver is a slideshow of all my golf photographs and drawings. There must be a couple of thousand images all told. Of the photographs, I enjoy trying to identify the course and hole before the next slide is cued up.
-
I change my desktop quite often, but this is one I am quite fond of. As a student at the School of Golf Operation in Lake City we were allowed to help set up gallery ropes, etc. In exchange for a ticket to see the tourney - what a great time.

Mine is of No. 2 at Mendakota CC (my home course). It's the hole where I made my first hole in one.
-
The green of #13 at Tobacco Road.

I call this "Double Bogey"
Portmarnock #4 Sept. 2005

Here's my usual desktop, taken on our trip last year:
A little bit of heaven on earth.
-
I'll also occasionally put up this one of the 18th at John's Island West, another one of my favorites, even if Fazio gets no love on GCA:
-
You know, I'm looking at a lot of these images here and I'm thinking , Condo Opportunity..... (Not St. John's Island West, I would rather have a colonoscopy)
That's what missing from these places, condos on both sides, and maybe a Taco Bell or Jack In The Box and a Starbucks...
As Shivas would say on his Family Feud thread, Give me condos!" Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding!!!!
We have a winner!
-
Tommy - Condo opportunity at Dornoch?
Vero Beach, maybe, but Dornoch? :o
(St. John's Island, very clever)
-
Randy, Condos everywhere. EVERYWHERE! I want them littering the sides of ever golf hole from Botswana to Katmandu. From La Habra to Sleepy Hollow.
Give me condos!
And waterfalls too!
-
Actually, just changed mine again, still staying with the Sutton Bay theme...

-
Royal County Down #9
-
Sand Hills #4 from the tee late in the day. Just before I shot my one and only par four eagle.
Sweet.
-
It was the 6th at StEnodoc (Himalaya) but having seen Randy's picture of Dornoch it's just changed!!
Why can't I take pictures like that!
-
4th at Jasper is my present background
-
My desktop picture is sort of a cliche because it's my dad and I standing on the 16th tee of a very famous course, but hey it brings back great memories every time I look at it so why not?
-
Which computer?
At home is a photo of my lounging Vizsla Beamer ...
At work is a Four-Ass photo of a group of GCAers walking down the 1st Fairway at Tobacco Road during last years Dixie Cup ...
Later this afternoon, a new photo will be replacing that one, stay tuned for details ...
-
I have an inkling what Mr. Benham's new photo will be. All I can say is the camera adds 25 pounds.
Interesting, mine on my work computer is the same one Geoffrey Childs has on his come computer: #1 Sand Hills, as captured by Paul Turner. People ask me all the time: is that Ireland?
For your viewing pleasure...
-
I have a picture of the 6th hole at Greywalls from the tee on mine.
-
Must be the only mac computer guy on here.
I currently have 46 shots of great courses/holes that I have visited. They play in the background and as the screen saver.
The power of Apple. ;-)
-
NSW GC screen saver - a rotating collection of about 20 images of La Perouse.

Thank you Tom- I can't help but smile when I see that photo. What a place!
PS- after reading that 25 lb. comment I was sure you were going to say your photo was a puffy TomH leaning against a rail on 15 at Cypress Point with a HUGE grin on your face.

Tom,
When we were going through our grand opening phase we got a ton of local press at Angels Crossing, including local television coverage. Anyway, one day I drew the short straw and went out to do the shpeel for the one of the local stations. That night my wife and I were watching the news and I reminded her, "You know the camera adds a good ten pounds." Her response, "Just how many cameras did they have on you?"
Cheers!

-
The 10th hole from behind the green back up the through the green of the greatest links IMHO. MACHRINHANISH!!! I do not know how the post pictures yet, sorry.
I also use about a hundred golf course pictures off the net for a screen saver.

I've taken a bunch of photos at Bandon over the years, many where the camera lense has rain on it. Have seen a lot of different weather conditions and luckily some photos have turned out fair to good, the one that stands out most is one of Sheep Ranch. It adorns my desktop.
From top of hill looking out over the green which sits on the point, huge scale of the green, flag blowing in the breeze, nice waves, good sky etc.
Many of the shots guys have posted on this thread are awesome too. I would lean towards the Sand Hills shot as my favorite of them.
-
The town of St. Andrews taken from the hotel across the fairway.
-
IT would be great to see more of these pics referenced on this thread.....?
-
Am I the only person here *not* to have a golf course image as my desktop background? I have a picture of me and my two brothers, taken at my brother's wedding. (That said, for a long time I used the same NSW screensaver cited by James B., although at the moment I'm using something more generic.)
Cheers,
Darren
-
That's actually a very funny post, Darren.
You mean to tell us that your brother's wedding WASN'T at a golf course?

Jim,
Borrowing from the prom video episode of 'Friends' w/o acknowledgement are we? ;) Hard to sneak things by all 1500 GCAers, ya know.... 8)

I listed my home golf pic background earlier, but at work, it's a pic of my 2 girls. Been there for several years (needs to be updated, they're growing like bamboo....).

Scott,
I don't watch friends, it actually happened. That's not to say that my wife might have picked up the line from watching though. Anyway, thanks for implying that I would be a plagarist of sorts. But that is a pretty classic example of how GCA members often fail to acknowledge that events or situations can be mutually exclusive in origin and give credit to more than one entity for a good or bad idea.
Cheers!

Jim - the world does need more cowbell. Which reminds me... I just got a new cellphone and I need to create my new cowbell ringtone.
Check out the pics on the MPCC thread - there were several cameras on me, dammit.
And to make Geoffrey Childs' day, I add:

So, Arsenal wind stoppers have finally been banned from Cypress Point?
-
My desktop wall paper isn't of a golf course either. It is a photo I took from one of the most beautiful walking-hiking paths in the world, on the Isle of Capri, with a view through the cypress trees of the Faraglione:
similar to this one
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7f/Capri2.jpg)
But, don't you guys then have the screen saver do the slide show thing with your other files of pics? I must have thousands that continue to slide show, taking days to complete. New additions are of course, Angels Crossing.
George, you can bet there are 100s of shots of that "virginal" land! As a matter of fact, people walking through my den notice the slide show and ask me, "what is that virginal land? ;) ;D 8)
-
So, Arsenal wind stoppers have finally been banned from Cypress Point?
Eric - sadly this was prior to my love and devotion for the Gunners. If not then darn right such would have been the garment of choice, and we can definitely assume they'd be accepted and embraced at a right-thinking club like Cypress Point. ;D
Did you happen to see the photo in the MPCC #11 thread?
;D

#6 at Pacific Dunes. The path of least resistance off the tee sets you up for bogey, at least. A great, great short par 4.

At the moment, my background is a picture of my 3 year-old dressed up as Yoda last Halloween.
The most recent golf photo I've used is the following:

It's on the laptop too.
