Title: Renovation of public course in Pound ridge?
Post by: Jay Flemma on May 24, 2006, 04:07:11 PM
A colleague of mine had heard "they" are redoing a nine hole public course in pound ridge into an 18 hole design.  Supposedely its a Pete Dye signature course.  Does anyone know about it and have any details?

Jay,

It is my impression from driving by there that Pound Ridge GC was plowed under for houses not holes.

Actually it is listed as a Perry Dye design.

Edit: Perry Dye is a consulting architect for the project according to the information on Dye Designs site.

This is the rumor, all right. I'd heard something similar, Jay. The only difference is that I hadn't heard "signature", but rather that it's some combination of Pete and Perry Dye (Pound Ridge is listed as "UC" on the Dye Designs website). I also heard it's to be a CCFAD. Would certainly like to know more--I have no idea if any of the above is anything more than rumor.

Jay,

You are absolutely correct and thanks. Pound Ridge GC is about 10 minutes from our weekend spot versus 40 minutes to Yale. I went by on my bike ride this morning. It is being built by:

Those are pictures of the old course. It is still early, but the site is clear and the old tiny log cabin of a clubhouse is still there. The old course was on a pretty good piece of property, so I am excited to see and hear more on this project.

I am amazed that this got through local zoning without more chatter in the local press, but it appears that they are in full construction mode.
