Ran:Was lucky enough to play St. Louis CC thisspring.  What a treat!  Except for a bitof tree overgrowth, I really felt like I wasstepping back in time.  St. Louis CC is a wonderful gem and I wouldencourage the membership to implement theirMaster Plan because the course is truly a beauty!

My issue of Links hasn't arrived on the frozen tundra yet, as it comes in by dog sled.  So, I'll reserve judgement of the article content and spirit in which it is written until I read the whole thing.  However, as one who now has had the distinct and unique pleasure of spending time playing golf - evaluating courses built and in consturction (Barona Creek, Riviera, Rustic Canyon); dining and benefiting from the generous hospitality with the great one; I would have to say that outrageous is not the right word - although "passionate and opinionated" maybe.  Drunk is not the right word; diet coke addict or wine connoisuer - maybe.  Penniless perhaps, but an man of many riches and great worth...My wife subscribes to all of the above and finds the man charming to boot!  Which worries me in the same manner as it would if he were "the good Dr.", Alister MacKenzie his own rogue self...
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

Paul,You are an unabashed "homer."  Good for you! Turn Paul Bunyon loose on no. 5 and it earns a halve - maybe a win.  Beverly's 15th is indeed a great two-shotter (back to back 3-woods for me) but alas Rocky Top will always be home sweet home to me!    I applaud your diligent stewardship of this Ross classic!

Interesting timing. I'll be in the presence of his excellency tommorrow and Saturday. I am not sure if there is enough oxygen in Southern California to accomodate both of us pontificating at once.Having dined with the great one, I can attest that he is not in danger of being accused of incurable drunkeness - normally that is my department. I shall try to comport myself in a manner worthy of esteemed company, but the addition of Dave Wigler likely will degenerate any pretense of sobriety or rational discussion.Somehow, I thought Eckenrode was smarter than to get lured into a potentially embarassing situation like this. . . .

What's wrong with Pine Valley?  Isn't that small?  Also, Sankaty Head, Somerset Hills, Victoria National, Garden City, Champions, Lochinvar.

Ran:Just finished reading through your write-up and it brought back wonderful memories of SLCC.  Great job!
