Golf In Cleveland Mid-November
« on: October 21, 2012, 02:57:38 PM »
Clevelandites...what are the usual prospects for golf in Cleveland Rocks the third weekend of the eleventh month? I am contemplating an ostensible trip to see college kid that weekend and, since she can only stand me for so long, would like to play some golf. Who got the skinny?

Weather is super iffy that late in the year...but as long as its above par for 9 holes (temp) I'm in.

PM me if interested and what days when it gets closer to the date.

Been IM-ing with Mr. Mountain and it looks as if there may be plans brewing for:

11/17 at Sleepy Hollow
11/18 at Manakiki

Nothing firm yet, and Mr. M may be in for playing more/other rounds that weekend as well...but simply gauging interest at this point.

If I can get off work, would love to join you all.  Two great courses to play in November!

I am interested in joining, if you have a spot available for one or both rounds.  Thanks.

Brian, wondering if extra layers of clothes shortens that backswing at all??  ;)

Good luck to your Irish this week.

Ha!  Barely, but now that you mention it, I do tend to strike the ball better when i play in the colder weather!  Perhaps only going 45 degrees past parallel helps in that regard.

I think the Irish need all the luck they can get this weekend.  I am incredibly excited about their progress, and believe they have the right coach, but this particular weekend has been worrying me for quite a while.  The fact that it means so much this late in the season is a welcomed, albeit nerve-wracking feeling we've been missing.

Hope to get up to Chicago to play with you guys some time soon.

Hard to disagree with the Sleepy Hollow recommendation. Really miss the old days when Charlie Sifford and his very nice wife used to run the place. Men, the greens were wicked fast in those days (early 1980s).

Not sure I can get up there as my wife may not approve, but I'd be interested in checking out either course. I've always heard good things about Sleepy Hollow. Can I be a "maybe" at this point?

Okay boys...low-50's this coming weekend, but seemingly dry and sunny.

What say you all...are we going to make this golf outing reality?

Please chime in or IM me and let's take a roll call and get some tee times booked!

Sorry...won't happen for me...grades and comments are due, plus an unexpected responsibility at school eliminated that opportunity. Targeting spring now.

At this point, I'm 50/50 at best. I'm playing today in the Pinehurst area but it very well might be my last round for the year. I've played so badly down here that it might be time for a break. More importantly, my wife may not be too happy if I drive up to Cleveland this coming weekend immediately after a trip to North Carolina.

If I do make it, I'd likely be in for just one day.

One day might also work well for me (preferrably Saturday).  Would love one last crack at Sleepy Hollow for the year!
