This is Lowel Morrissett reporting live from the pro-am at Royal Sydney where The Australian Open starts in two days.Notes from the pro-am1. Passed Faldo heading to the driving range. The people in my group briefly confused the two of us except they thought perhaps I was a little more muscular across the shoulders.2. A recent drought has prevented the rough from coming in properly - the course will have to rely on its other attributes.3. After a couple of holes or so, I turned to the pro in our group and asked what courses he would like to play that he had never seen. His response was the following classic:"Mate, there are none. Every course has eighteen tees, eighteen greens, and grass. It doesn't matter where I play."He and I started to bond at that point.4. The pro later followed that pearl with the fact that the rough wasn't consistent and it wasn't fair that two peope could hit the ball five yards off the fairway and one draw a better lie than the other.I acknowledged the factual accuracy of my new mate's statement.5. Norman drove within 5 yards of the first green, which is 310 yards long (the hole, not the green). This is Lowel Morrissett signing off from Royal Sydney until Friday, where I will file my next report from the veranda at Royal Sydney after another famous long Australian lunch.

Lowel--Since you didn't mention your play, we all assume it was lousy.  Just remember to peak in time for the Morrissett Christmas Cup -- your foursomes partner doesn't want to be pitching out of the trees on every other hole.If your play in the pro-am was so bad, why didn't you change your last name (and save the family honor) rather than your first?Should we add your new mate to the list for people for the dinner at the R&A Clubhouse?

I did not hit anybody nor did I four putt a single time. I have nothing to be ashamed of (that is, as it relates to yesterday). Only one bad patch from the 4th hole through the 10th where I missed every fairway retarded what would have otherwise been a respectable, mediocre score.
